I just got this email:
Dear Neopet User, Due to the number of scams being successful through emails, our newest rule is banning posting emails anywhere on our site. Therefore, you have been caught using your personal e-mail on Neopets or emailing a person with their email. The Neopets Team understands that this rule is new to most users, so if you wish to keep your account active and running, please fill out the correct information below and return to us at this e-mail address. If we do not receive the following information within 48 hours, we must sadly freeze all of the active accounts linked to your computer. If You Have Any Other Accounts Please Put Them Also. Thank you for your attention. Username(s): Account(s) Password: Pet's Names: If you have a pin number please include it! Pin: Thank you, The Neopets Team
first of all, it came from support@neopets.co m (notice the space) this was the name of the person it came from... the actual email address is: the0neopets0team@yahoo.com
like I'm stupid enough to fall for this, but I don't want anyone else to fall for it... I'll be forwarding it to the actual neopets support as well as posting the scam to neopets and also will have all information on my site

I swear, what an idiot made that one up. For one thing, if it came from Neopets they wouldn't have to ask you add any other accounts you might have. They would KNOW what you had. And the addresses are so lame. Like Neopets would have all those 0s in their address.
But you're right, someone really really young, or someone new to Neopets might think it was for real. How mean of someone to try this. But as we all know, there are mean people out there!

I can tell the scammer wrote it in such a way that it could possibly sound like TNT. How cruel is that!! I'm glad you caught it, though, Linds. Thanks for sharing this!
How ironic that the person is "warning against scam emails" when in reality he/she IS the scammer.

yeah and now they're trying to convince me that their ip is not what my trace has it as and that they don't live in lansing, MI ... but that's alright, cuz I traced everything about them and I have been in communication with comcast ... their isp who is also handling it from their end what can I say? I'm downright evil at times

I don't think that's evil at all. THEY are the evil ones and need to be punished for trying to hurt people.

I don't think that's evil at all. THEY are the evil ones and need to be punished for trying to hurt people. ok, I guess what I mean by evil would be that instead of reporting it to TNT and blocking their ip from emailing me or going to my site, I take it a step further. I tracked their internet activity for the past 4 days (didn't want to take up too much space on my database for this loser) followed their every move. I know exactly when they came to my site and every single page they visited, I know when they created the yahoo account (who has been contacted about it as well since their account is used to impersonate someone else... which they consider identity theft) I have contacted comcast, their isp and I have their computer's name, address all the way down to their exact street address for the computer... and because they did several other illegal things which have nothing to do with neopets I also contacted the proper authorities that's what I mean, someone messes with me and I take them down... what if they sent this same email to 10 other people and even one person actually sent them the information - then I failed and I can't stand the thought that someone was scammed because I wasn't fast enough

Wow linds nice work!!! I use to be able to do that yeaaaaaaaaaaars ago, but I'm so out of date one whats up now a days, maybe that will teach them that even on the most simple website they could get themselves screwed over for doing something horrible and innocent like that!!

good job linds on catching that. So I'm not really sure if this was a scam or not since it was actually from Neopets. But the other day I got a neomail saying a neomail I sent to NFTYSQRT69@neomail.com which is my premium account was bounced back. The weird thing is I know 100% I never sent anything over to that e-mail. The only thing I ever receive there is the Space Faerie Scratch Cards and any random Premium events. So I'm not sure what to do? It's just very weird!

It was weird too, cuz the only time I personally send anything to my neopets webmail except for greeting cards when I'm wanting to test the payouts on it... there are other things that go to my webmail, but I don't send them, it's all from new pms on a couple of message boards I'm a member of and of course tons of spam that I get daily

do you think it was a glitch from premium? because didn't the other day they sent us a message saying webmail would be down for a week. I'm wondering maybe it was the scratchcard since i never got one for friday.

I'm wondering maybe it was the scratchcard since i never got one for friday. I got the same thing sat when I logged in. I noticed the scratch card wasn't there either but we got one! just weird, I went to the scratchcard link to see if we got it and it showed me all my payouts/items that I got from previous cards and the new one that had question marks by it because I didn't scratch it. maybe thats what the neomail was about.
