i've noticed that a lot of members are interested in like american idol and stuff like that, so what if we did like a talent contest in the guild.... not like the awards or anything and not specifically setting it, but this person might enter a drawing submission, that one might write a poem or whatever... i mean, maybe like a star search or something
this just came to me and i figured i'd better get it posted before i forgot or whatever
and i know we have so many other things going too, like the scavenger hunt and all that... but i thought it might be something to keep in mind

I dunno about this one, like I really like the idea of the idol thing, but really poem writing is all you can do over internet. There could be an artistic drawing one as well I guess, but it would be really hard to run. Maybe dl will like it though, good idea. |

sounds like a good idea..not good at poems of such nor the drawing but if they added a coloring sheet i can try that one.

Sounds fun..can't think of anything other than writing, drawing, and coloring at the moment but I'm sure there are other ways on the internet in which you could express yourself..I'm not an expert at any of those three things either but I would be ready to take my chances and try.  |

that's what i was having problems with too, trying to figure out just exactly what you could do... but who says we have to limit it to specific things? if you want to enter, enter and it doesn't matter what you do as long as it's your work ..... i mean on american idol it's all about singing, but i remember star search and it was just whatever talent you had: dancing, singing, playing an instrument.... so we could just do whatever and if you don't win with your entry, you can enter it again during the next round
and i'm talking about anything! site spotlight, coloring pages, short stories, what they hey.... gardening and neohome or galleries too that don't have a specific theme just whatever you want to do because the themed galleries and shops are for the theme week, but what if yours is done in something totally different?
anyway... i didn't mean to make it look like it was limited or anything, just whatever each individual wanted to enter no matter what it was and i guess as long as it was neopets related or at least guild related then it was acceptable

Well for this I get what you mean...just whatever someone's taken time to create and make their creation look good..neopets or guild-related I guess. Well if we did it, it sure sounds like fun.

It could be fun. I think it would need to be alternated with theme weeks though, or we might get a bit burnt out doing submissions and not be as focused when we had a theme week.

Oh no, you HAD to bump this thread up I really don't think we should do another Awards Ceremony. The first one we did was really nice and it's a great event to do but sometimes feelings about these types of things can be really hurt so I think it's best if we keep from doing things like this. |

And also it's just so much more work for dl to do for the guild, and he does TONS already.
It is a nice idea, but I really think having a theme week now and then gives most everyone a chance to participate and enter something they enjoy and have some talent at. So I think this type of thing would somewhat overlap what we do during theme weeks. It might have a different format, but it is essentially similar as far as everyone getting a chance to enter and use their talent.

What if it was done every quarter? That is, of course, if it was done.
It'd be more work for dl and the council members to organise things, though.

I agree with dl... it could hurt other people's feelings, especially if they put a lot of effort into an entry and lost. Maybe we could have runner-up prizes so it wouldn't hurt so much, but I understand if you don't want to. It'll be very expensive . |
