Hey guys... so its no big secret that our guild website is horribly out of date. I was in the process of creating a brand new one when my computer crashed and all of my work was lost so I'll have to start all over again. At any rate... I've recently learned that it is really rather cheap to host a website and am very seriously considering buying a domain for our guild website. There are many advantages (obviously) to this and we have quite a few ideas in mind to implement if/when this is accomplished. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there! What we need from you all right now is your thoughts and opinions on WHAT the domain name should be. silverlinedcloudsguild.com is much too long. slcg.com is the ideal choice but that is already taken. Close to that would be SLCguild.com which is probably my favorite idea thus far although SLC is an often used acronym for Salt Lake City. Still, I think this is the best option. However, SLCG staff has also been working on ideas in the Staff Forum and we came up with some of the following: silverguild.com silverlinedguild.com slcgii.com slcg2.comNone of which are exactly thrilling so we'd like to have your thoughts and ideas on this!

silvercloudsguild.com Still too long?
Out of the listed, I like slcguild.com and slcgii.com. I'll think about it, too...
Also, are you possibly considering other domain extensions, like .net or .org?

I think you're more likely to attract new guild members if "neopets" is part of the name, so it will come up with Google searches.
How about something like "neopetsSLCG.com"?
(And the most cost effective place I've found for registering and hosting sites is GoDaddy.)

FB720... I like slcguild.com too. Silverlcoudsguild isn't too long but it kinda doesn't make sense as a phrase. I know the current guild website uses that handle but the reason for that is because I created the guild on Neopets with the account "silvercloudsguild" so I wanted the two to be the same so people wouldn't get confused. However, since silvercloudsguild isn't used for anything anymore I find little use in using it anymore for a website name. I think you're more likely to attract new guild members if "neopets" is part of the name, so it will come up with Google searches. How about something like "neopetsSLCG.com"? (And the most cost effective place I've found for registering and hosting sites is GoDaddy.) GoDaddy is good but has a lot of problems... .for Domains I haven't seen anything beat 1and1.com and for hosting, dreamhost.com is phenomenal. Also, Neopets is a registered trademark and while nothing wrong would probably come of it by using it in the name, Neopets could technically, if they wanted, order my site be removed for using their Trademarked name without permission. This frequently happens with Disney-related websites, they get shut down for that same reason... that's why a lot of the Disney fan sites have to use names like MouseInfo, Miceage, etc. Having NEO in the title would be fine, though because that is not a Trademark. Still, I don' t know if I'd like that in the title. Come on now we have more than two active members (don't we!?) let's hear what you all think!

Hmmmm...it might pull in more searches if it had Neo in the title. But I'm not sure how we could work it in. NeoSLCG2.com SLCG2Neo.com SilverLinedCG2.com

I'm not entirely seeing how NEO in the title would help anything...

I thought that was in the discussion that it would help it be found on a search engine.
Anyway, just pick a name and go with it. I'll be fine with whatever you choose.

Well it's still a few weeks if not months away... I'm not quite ready to dive into that just yet. I am going to Florida in November so it might be before or after that.

Out of the choices listed, I like SLCguid.com the best. Too bad SLCG.com was already taken.

So I just checked and SLCguild is no longer available!!!! WTH!!! That makes me mad and sad. But then I thought of one that I think some of you might like... How about slcgneo.com? EDIT: Hmm, that's actually very similar to what bunny already posted, haha. But what do you guys think? I think that's short and easy to remember and it incorporates NEO into our name.

I think it's fine, dl. And maybe we better choose soon before that one is snapped up too! It's odd...what are the chances of that many people wanting to use a name as similar as ours?

LOL, it is very odd. I checked all the other ones though and those are still available.
So what do y'all think... is slcgneo our new favorite?

"slcgneo" sounds like a disease. It's also the sort of thing you'd never remember. I'd go back to your original list -- silverlinedguild.com

A disease?! I kinda like it! I thought it was a very memorable name, considering.
Well this isn't going anywhere at all! lol.

Slcguild the former favorite IS available but as a .net... do we like the idea of having a .net for our guild website?
