Secret Santas

i was thinking about asking dl if we could do this not sure if the new rules allow it or not. i was thinking a secret santa thing for us to do at christmas. how it is done for those of you that haven't ever done this is..we all im one of the person running this program and tell them we want to partcipate in the santa game. then there will be a set amount that you have to spend on the person whose name you get. and when you get your present for that person you send it to the person who contacted you about who you will buy for. now there will have to be two people doing this and i will volunteer myself but i want to participate if we do it so in order for it to be a surprise in who i get i would have to have someone who will divide up the list. or we can have 3 people BUT whoever volunteers has to deliever the presents to the correct receiver some type on christmas day. another thing you can do is send teaser gifts..just small what nots to that person through out the week but getting someone else to send it for you so not to be known as that persons secret santa. i would suggest a 5000-10000nps spending limit but that again isn't up to me..we have almost 3 weeks to play games to earn that amount so it shouldn't be too hard. but if you say you want to partcipate you have to do so because it won't be fair for some to miss out on getting just like they also have given.
another suggestion would to have a thread of wish list..maybe generalize it like furniture, gardening, stamps, shoyru items, weapons....basic outline for people to know what your interest are.
so what do you think? oh and then we can also have a guessing game guessing who we think is our santa and then on christmas night after all presents are delievered or the next day, we will reveal in that post who we had to buy for

or we could figure out how we could do like a white elephant i think they call it..where you get a present and you can trade it or keep it....not real sure about how that one works

I like the idea of the secret santa game! The white elephant would be too hard I think...trying to swap all those out so much...but, I like the secret santa! Would totally participate!

We've done this before in the guild too, so maybe we can do it again this year. I think it would be really fun..I love picking gifts out for people and hey, who doesn't love receiving them? If we decide to go for it I think we can work out the finer details later.

i wasn't sure if you guys had or hadn't i missed christmas here ...but soooo looking forward to my first christmas with you guys. i joined here a year ago in febuary. it seems like i have been here forever but wasn't fortunate enough to have found this guild first. i guess better later than never!

Yeah, around this time is really fun in the guild, what with giveaways everywhere, snowball fights, secret santa, sometimes a theme week! In the past, miss_auntie_ashley hosted the secret santa and she did a good job at it. I know if you host it, fairy, you'll do great too.

we've done the secret santa and whoever is in charge tells who get to give who a present.
The secret person logs in under the name SecretSanta (Santa has there own account).
I think if we do it again a price limit should be no more than 5,000 nps. Getting up to 10,000nps is a bit much (I think... nice but some members may not be able to do that much).
I think this year though we should have a wishlist thread. Where everyone who is interested in being in the Secret Santa we post what we want in that thread and than our gift giver has a better idea of what to get us.

You post somewhere that you want to participate in the Secret Santa event. Then the people in charge compile a large list and randomly select matches, like if we both applied, and I was chosen to be your Secret Santa, I would log in on an account with the username Secret Santa and give you your gifts. Then, on Christmas, we reveal who we are! Understand?

ok put real simple..if you want to partcipate you just tell whoever is in charge not sure if dl wants me to do it or not yet...but anyway lets say i am in charge of it or whoever...you would im me and say i want to be in the secret santa game.
then when the time comes like a week before christmas you will be imed by me or whoever is running the game and told who you will buy a present for..you will be given a random name of those who partcipate. like you might get princessbeckys name...
then you go to the thread of wish list to see if she has listed the types of items she wants to get...and you buy her a gift in that price range.
and YOU DON"T TELL whose name you have to buy for....its a secret. then i am not sure exactly how they want to do it from there but what i think would be best is like kristin said you send me an im telling me what you bought for your person (its like drawing names to buy a gift for at xmas) then you send your gift to the address given for the secret santa. on christmas day probably about 3ish i will log on that account and give out all the gifts that members have sent and send them to the person who gets them.
so you buy a gift around 5000nps and you get a gift from a secret person for 5000nps.
does that make it easier to understand?

It'll be my first Christmas here, too! I joined last January, so I just missed it last year.

I will be happy to help with this in any way needed.

Just a heads up though. Last year we had people sign up who didn't follow through, and some members sent their gifts but received nothing in return. So, if you do sign up, make sure you will be able to participate because we don't want anyone to be disappointed.

If anyone does sign up and then finds that they are unable to participate, please let whoever is in charge know, so that you can either be helped out some, or have your name quietly removed before the actual pairing up occurs. This way no one will be embarrassed and no one will be disappointed.

Just let me know if you need help on this one, dl, or fairy or whoever heading it up.

well this is what i told dl...i told him we need to go ahead and get the ball rolling that way we can get as much partcipation as we can...get the wish list up, let those that want to get their gifts for their person bought and sent...that way we might know who has sent and send reminders out like 3 days before time to give out gifts. then those who don't send don't receive their gift.. but i can't see the members who are active right now as being ones who would say they wanted to do it and not do what they promised...but i know it happens!!!
