I just came back from seeing this movie for the second time and its just incrediable. Tim Burton did an amazing job on creating the book into the big screen and being unique in its own way compared to the old one. It's completly a must SEE!! ;D

I absolutely LOVED this movie!!! All the reviewers in our area said they didn't like it, but something must have seriously been wrong with them. Anyway, Johnny Depp was fantastic, the set design was incredible, and just the whole thing had this great, magical, kinda surreal atmosphere to it! The music was great, too, by Danny Elfman (he wrote 'The Simpsons' theme, and did the music for 'Edward Scissorhands,' too). I can't wait to see it again...it was awesome!

I want to see it so bad!! If everyone thinks it's one that you have to see twice, it must be good. Don't you think Johnny Depp looks a little weird though?

He does look kinda weird in the previews, but in the movie, I thought he was great. Once you meet him in the movie, though, he's just acts so weird and quirky, it makes you forget about how he looks...he really is fantastic!

I love the first movie. It would be fun to compare it to this one if I see it.

I love when Wonka cuts the ribbon and poses with the scissors in his hand. An undeniable reference to Edward Scissorhands...
Then when they are in the elevator flying over Fudge Mountain which looks remarkably like the Matterhorn at Disneyland. Disneyphiles will recognize a scene in which the elevator passes and two Oompa Loompas on the mountain stop to look and wave at the passing elevator. There is old Disney footage of this almost exact same scene except it is mountain climber(s) in red leiderhosen and they are waving to a passing Skyway Bucket. I seemed to be the only person that laughed in this part but I'm sure there are tons of other movie references in there as well.

At first I didn't really care about seeing the movie. But I watched a "making of" the movie last night, and I really want to see it now! The attention to detail, and the hard work that went into it looks like it really paid off. Johnny Depp is an amazing actor...he can morph himself into almost any character I think.

Lol leave it to Dl to find something about Disneyland in the movie hehe. Anyway I thought Johnny Depp was great. And of course my Danny Elfman was spectacular. He is such a musical genius.

My favorite movie reference, though, was in the TV room where they had the oompa loompa watching '2001: A Space Odessey' and they had the music going when they brought in the huge chocolate bar...and then of course, they stand it on end so it looks like the monolith from the movie....ahhh, thank you Tim Burton!! Is that old Disney footage from a movie or something else? Because they way you described it made it seem like I've seen it before or something...maybe not, but it sorta rang some bells. When I saw the mountain, I thought Lord of the Rings (but I'm an LOTR junkie, so what can I say...) or of the Paramount Pictures mountain. Definitely gonna see this one again, though

I really want to see this movie, but I will have to wait until we pull into another port. Whenever that's going to be.

I saw with my mom when she was here. It was pretty good. I'm not sure if I like it better than the orginal or not though.

I'm not sure I liked it better than the original, but I don't think I liked it any less. They're both so different in style it's hard to compare them. They're both fantastic movies, IMHO.

It came out here on the first of september and I only just saw it last week then saw it again the other day lol. I like this one better than the first but I still love the first oen too.
A friend and I had a right little giggle when we first saw Wonka in Loompaland. It reminded us of Depp in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" lol.
One of my fave parts had to be "Good morning starshine. The earth says hello" the way he said it made me burst out laughing.
Marilyn Manson was originally approached to play Wonka but apparently he's doing the Queen of Hearts in American McGee's Alice. That's who Wonka's look was kind of based off. It's so creepy but it's so Wonka!
