So we won a trip to Fabulous Las Vegas a couple months ago and we redeemed it this weekend. Nfty had to sit through a 2 hour timeshare presentation once we got there but we had a 4-nite one bedroom suite complete with fully furnished kitchen! It was so awesome, on top of that we got free tickets to the aquarium, two different magic shows, a $50 gas card, $400 slot-machine at one of the casinos, and four free buffet tickets at the Sahara casino! All for free, all we had to do was get ourselves there (about a 4 hour drive from where we live) and pay for the taxes on it, about 80 bucks. We had an incredible time, it was so much fun and we got to meet up with some of Nftys friends who live there. What a great weekend.

Our timeshare company, Bluegreen, has been trying to get us out there too. They are in the process of completing a new resort right in the heart of everything. That would be funny if that was the company who gave the presentation! lol The two hour programs really aren't that bad. It's kinda fun to see what all they have to offer. Of course you do have to be good at saying no. I'm glad you two had a good time. Sounds like fun!

It was Pacific Monarch, actually. The name of the resort was Cancun.

i sold timeshares actually it was "like" time share but for campers...we sold camping packages to camp resorts all throughout the U.S. it was a horrible dishonest group of people...if the people didn't buy they made us send them out a seperate door....and they never got anything as far as "if you come listen to our presentation you'll get...." of course i didn't stay long either...but this was right after the time share thing became so hot. eventually they made laws to protect the consummer in this venue...its a good thing cause they where some very underhanded dishonest people. glad you guys had fun....i can't go to things like that...even if i couldn't afford it....i would want to sign up and join...they say that sales people are the easiest people to sell too and i so believe it! i have a hard time turning offers that sound too good to be true down...i am such a mark

I always have a horrible time saying no to them. I almost signed up but Joey talked me out of it lol. This company actually seems honest and fair. If we could afford it I would probably have signed up.

well most are honest now and have laws surrounding the "deal" and a back out date. but back when they first started springing up....there were a lot of dishonest deals done...lots of people cheated and it left a bad mark on that industry for a while. but i have a lot of friends who have them now and no problems in the promises made to them

Yea if we could afford 150 bucks a month, we definitely would have bought into it, seems totally worth it. At this point, an apartment and a car kinda take importance over vacationing though, hehe

wow thats not a bad price at all...but it definately isn't as important as those primary bills or goals i have to agree. but then again you never officially own anything either. too bad you can't pay to own lol

Yea you're an "owner" not an owner, lol. But yea it's a shame we can't afford something like that, although ideally we'd buy into the Disney timeshare... they have beautiful properties in Walt Disney World, and are buildling a bunch of really nice ones here in Disneyland too. Plus they have properties outside of Disney too in the places you'd expect, Hawaii, Europe, etc. This kinda thing is right up my alley because when it comes to traveling specifically, I don't like the notion of not having a place to rest my head when I'm so far from home.

With Bluegreen, you are an owner. Has to go through closing and it's deeded property with taxes and the whole bit. It's cheaper to buy points on Ebay though than it is to buy direct. Our first one cost almost 16,000, and our second one was only 2500 on Ebay. We have a combined total of 15,000 points a year, so if we could still travel as much as we used to we could take five or six vacations with that. It's well worth the money.
We're about three hours from Hammond.

What's great about Vegas is that there's so much amazing stuff that's so expensive but there's also so much really great stuff that's also free. Do your research before you go and make the most of your trip. Vegas can be lots of fun on pretty much any budget.

I am glad you had a good time in Vegas. We have timeshares with Wyndham and love it. I get to go to Nashville every year with some of my points, also get to go to Ocean City Md. Not all timeshare people are crooks, but you have to be careful.

Yes, you really do have to watch it. Luckily we got involved with a good company right off the bat, but there are a lot of shysters out there. They will promise you the moon, too. There are some timeshares that are so restricted with their usage that after you go through all the perks and actually get down to using the timeshare, it's never available when you want it. That's why there are so many resales available.
Las Vegas always looks so beautiful on tv...all the night shots from the helicopters with everything all lit up.
Did you guys see those famous dancing fountains?

Yea the Bellagio fountains are breath-taking. They are synched up to water. We didn't see them on these trip but they've been around since the hotel was built a few years ago. We're not Vegas experts but both Becca and I have been quite frequently in our lifetimes. I have family out there so when I was younger, we used to go to Vegas once, twice a year and stay with family.
