Has anyone been seeing that around? Dice a roo? Scratch Cards? Tombola? Wonder why? I don't know if it's related but on the TV here in Aus, there has been reports of neopets teaching kids to gamble. You know, with stuff like neopoker and beige dice being availiable to kids and stuff, they're also saying that MacDonalds is helping to advertise for a gambling program... Now what do you have to say about that?

It is so ridiculously stupid.... Yes I must admit now that I've been playing Neopets for four years I'm a hardened criminal gambler and I've become an alcoholic, as a result. My goodnes, PLEASE! I'd expect this from some lonely housewife in the US who has nothing but else to do but complain about trivial nonsense just to get her 15 minutes of fame.
Honestly, how will playing bilge dice and black pawkeet slots encourage you to gamble in real life? No offense but get a life woman and monitor your children's online surfing! She must be getting sooo much hate mail, and rightfuly so. I highly doubt McDonald's will drop their contract.

awwww...how can you be lonely, kris? You have all of us. Seriously though, some people will twist things around and make them into something they're not just to pump themselves up and gain attention. Like dl says...parents need to monitor their children's internet usage..it's their responsibility. I love Dice-a-Roo, and the other games of chance on Neopets. It's such a restricted site in terms of prohibiting profanity, and sexual content, that I really can't see how anyone would object to it. To find that one thing to pick at and magnify so out of proportion is to totally ignore all the good things about Neopets. sigh some people...makes you wonder, doesn't it?

you know that really upsets me bc this wouldn't be an issue if the parent took some responsibility and explained to their child the difference bt real money and fake money. bt gambling and a game. it's not just about online surfing, it's making a difference bt reality and "fantasy". these are the same parents who blame sex and violence on the media when they're letting their 5 yr olds watch a rated R movie and let their kids chat with whomever online!
BAH! dumb dumb people make me hit my head against a wall....better yet make me want to take their head and it against a wall LOL jk

seven.com.au/todaytonight/story/?id=16911Here is another article which still portrays Neopets as a gambling website... well just read the author's ignorance for yourself... And after all this controversy I refuse to believe that no one has contacted these news agencies to point out the inaccuracies of their reporting... that the gambling is a very tiny part of the entire Neopets community. I'm starting to think that this was started by Neopets themselves... here in LA the motto is "No publicity is bad publicity" ...controversy is one of the best methods of spreading word of mouth about a product/movie/game/etc and I'm starting to think that this may just be that... PR to spread to get people talking about Neopets... What do you guys think?

DL you're exactly right. i'm studying marketing and public relations and you have a very valid point. but my thinking is tho, as good as controversy may be for publicity, i would think it's aiming at the wrong target market. i mean no one really wants to go on NEOPETS to check out the gambling scene they heard about. maybe that's just me, but in this case, controversy isn't the way to go.

Who cares how bad J Lo and Ben were in that movie, Giggly? (yes I know its Gigli, silent G, whatever), who cares what Lindsay thinks about Hilary? Who cares about Britney's 55 hour marriage? Who cares what Kelly Osbourne thinks of Christina Aguilera? None of thos quibbles had to do with the celeb at hand... it had to do with promoting what they were in... the movie Gigli... Lindsay and Hilary's albums... Britney's "comeback" album... The Osbournes on MTV. When they report on mindless quibble like this then people who don't know who the heck Kelly Osbourne is or what the heck Neopets is hear the news and ask around to find out who/what the quibbling is about and poof The Osbourne's has higher ratings... and poof Neopets has a new user signed up!
It's all gossip for the sake of spreading a name into households across the world and I think setting it outside of America would be a wise choice... Americans will inevitebly report on it... "Aussies are attacking an american based children's game!"
It has people everywhere buzzing and if it really was PR spread about for the sake of publicizing Neopets than its doing a fabb job:)

Well that's true. I mean bad publicity is still publicity. I never really thought of that till y'all pointed it out.
