Yesterday at my school we had cheerleading tryouts, and I was up for my tryout. We had two very unexperienced girls basing for our group, an experienced flier, and an experienced spotter (me) One of the bases didn't get a good grasp on the flier, so when we brought her up to a full, she fell. I couldn't catch her because she shot out superman-style towards the front, and I was in the back, with the two bases in front of me blocking my way. They were standing there dazed, and I couldn't push out of the way to get to her in time. I remember grabbing for her, but missing and seeing her fall full-force on her arms. We rushed her to the hospital, and they treated her. She has a fractured elbow, a broken elbow, and sprained her wrist. She paid huge sums of money to go on a trip that she would be leaving for on Monday. And the money is non-refundable. Needless to say, she's trying to go on the trip, but she is in a lot of pain right now, and may have to get surgery on her elbows. I would appreciate any prayers now, for her, and for the two blockers and me because we feel like its totally our fault. The school could also be sued because they're not meant to put people up after only two days of practice, especially people who've never cheerleaded before. This is a very strenuous experience for us all, even moreso than the time a girl ran her arm through a window about a month ago. So if you could all pray, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks a lot!

We'll all be praying, beauti. Please try not to feel like it's all your fault. I'm sure you all did the best you could do. Your coaches never should have had you do such a difficult thing with so little practice. Let us know how everything turns out.

awww hun... don't worry about it, it's TOTALLY not your fault. If anything, it's EVERYONE's fault who is involved (hope that didn't make it worse)... i know exactly what you're going through because i was a cheerleader in high school... if you keep up and watch the competitions and stuff you might have heard of my school's squad, they won nationals the past two years... Kamehameha from hawaii? anyways that's besides the point... we all work really hard, and there was this one time where we were trying new stunts with inexperienced bases, and i was the flier. well, one of the bases let go of my foot in a full lib extention and i fell correctly, but the other base didn't let go of my foot to let me fall properly... i ended up falling on and knocking my back spot smack in the face with my body, and i knocked a tooth out of her, and chipped several others. She was bleeding and we rushed her to the hospital, and she had to get braces and dentist stuff done all because of me. i felt sooooo bad, and i'll never forgive myself... but i will keep you in my prayers because i know how it feels to feel at fault... try not to feel that way ok hun, because my coach explained to all of us that we were working together as a stunt group, so if someone gets hurt it's all of our faults...
Hope she heals well, take care now.

PS -- did you make the team? After all that, no. Because even though I have done a lot of work and worked with them some before, they didn't let anybody who was in that group to make the squad. A little biased to me, but I'm sure they had their reasons...

As soon as I read the posts, I stopped and said a prayer for you and for the injured girl. As stated in earlier posts, it wasn't your fault. Accidents happen and they just can't be foreseen or prevented. Everything happens for a reason. It may not be apparent right now, but one day it will make more sense.
I'm sorry you didn't make the team, but don't let it stop you from trying again.
