No. Eggs are not meat... there is no... meat. lol.
Vegans don't eat eggs. They don't eat animals or animal products. That means no eggs, no milk, no cheese, no noodles, no bread... I personally think it's insane but to each his own!

cant call a vegan obese tho.....
i knew this guy in high school that was total vegan in every sense of the term and i was amazed about how much discpline he had and all the stuff he could find to eat that didnt involve any type of animal product! yeah for sno cones!
also keep in mind there are different type of vegetarians, and they all have a different diet so she can be a "vegetarian" and not eat "meat", but still have like eggs and dairy and stuff....like the atkins opposite haha

Vegetarians eat animal products just not meat especially chicken and beef. I personally don't undestand vegetarianism and especially veganism. If it's part of you religion well then power to you but for people who become vegetarians (as many do) because they disagree with harvesting and killing animals, well no offense to any such vegetarians but that is just silly. You not buying meat DOES NOT affect the sales of meat products, at all. People like to eat. People like normal diets that include meat. There are a lot of people in the world. Harvesting animals is the most efficient way of keeping meat affordable. A few hundred thousand vegetarians refusing to consume meat are not going to reverse the way animals are harvested. Some vegeterians only eat "free-range" animals but if you think about it, free-range farms are usually owned by the big corporations that do the en-mass slaughter that they are against in the first place. Killing animals as how we survive. It's part of our diet so grab some popcorn chicken from KFC and live with it! OK, so I'm really opinionated, sue me

yes,the answer is no.the egg consists of the egg white and yolk and the yolk is the food for the unfertilised chick while the egg white is something like a cushin for the chick!

Just thought this is turning into vegan talk. huh? i'm confused.......and i kinda agree with DL, i think being vegetarian bc of religious reasons is very cool and admirable but just bc does and doesnt make sense to me, it makes sense that people feel that it's not right and by not consuming the product, in their mind and hearts, they feel like they're helping elminate or not enforce the "problem" but on the same note, the minority of vegans (used loosely) will not outweigh the demands the majority has for meat. it's not possible. think of all the holidays that are centered around meat: thanksgiving, christmas, easter, 4th of july, the list goes on. meat is part of our society, but yet i support people who do their own thing.

No... well, meat is what comes off a living animal right? And eggs aren't... hatched yet, but if you eat an chick then it counts.... I also agree with dl, like, i am a environmental person, but i still don't really get why people are vegetarians, we are omnivores, we need to eat meat and vegies to live, or else you're not nutritionly balanced. And I don't think not buying meat effects the meat industry that much either, if you don't eat it, someone else will... Anyway, meat is yum, your sister don't know what she's missing out...

Some people are vegitarians from birth... i know a guy who was born into a vegitarian family and even now at 25 if he even accidentally gets a meat product in his food he ends up sick for days
i kinda feel sorry for him... if he comes over for family bbq's he has to bring his own vegi based substitutions

or say someone has kidney disease, proteins are the most complex therefore make your kidneys work hadest. If you had Kidney desiese, eating meats(which al you know have a ton of protein), would be bad for the person.

To each his own, I suppose. I eat meat, but I wouldn't just die without it. I love pasta. I couldn't do the no cheese and eggs and all that stuff though. Gotta have my glass of milk in the morning!
I think why some would think an egg was meat is that sometimes it is kinda considered the "meat" in a meal as far as the protein quota goes.

Backing what philicheese said- I learned that if someone goes vegetarian long enough their body ceases to produce the enzymes necessary to properly digest meat, so can believe that that guy gets ill if he accidentally ingests a meat product.
And bunnyrabt was right, too... eggs can be considered a protein, as far as a vegetarian diet goes, but is not considered meat. Meat is specifically muscle tissue, which an egg is not. Ever heard of "sweetmeats"? Not meat either! They are glandular tissue! Ew.
My attitude toward vegetarians is one of comforted assurance. I am higher on the food chain than they are, and in extreme survival situations... well, I will still have food around...heh heh heh!

I could not be a vegetairian. But my sister used to be one so I know a lot about it (I did the cooking)
It is possible to eat a balanced meal without meat
meat in large quantities is bad for you, we are omnivores that means we can eat both the stuff that herbivores and carnivores eat, but we had to give in on both parts, cant digest things like grass or leaves as good as cows and cant digest meat as good as a cat (to much meat can cause yukie stuff like bad breath......)
If you feel bad about that animals are being killed than dont eat it, I think saying that that does not make a difference is like just teasing some one, even though you know it is not good, just because if you do not do it others still will do it. if anything feels wrong to you do not do it

ok, I can write about this from both sides. when I was around 11 i became a vegetarian because I wnated to stop the ruthless killing of animals - Dl, the opinion is not nesseseraly that you don't eat meat in order to totally stop it (yea, as if), but often because you disagree with the methods - once upon a time animals were killed from the wild, and this is fine (they still live lives), but now they are bred, live their lives and r killed in captivity. This is a huge change, and I think it mistreats the animals. I know some vegetarians who feel that meat is bad for you (I totally disagree, we are after all evolutionarily trained as omnivores, although hormones etc in meat can be a problem). I tend to look on this vegetrianism differently to those who are ethical or religious vegetarians. As for those who only eat free range meat, well good for them! it's not usually as a boycott against multinational companies, tho it is beta nutrients wise to buy local or organic, but mainly as an ethical stance for the rights of the animal - if your gonna eat it, it might as well have the best quality life you can give it - and it will proably taste better for it!! I have since stopped being a vegetarian, because the smell of roastc hicken drove me mad, and my sister stopped because, being a fussy eater, she found her health deteriating, thru not eating any vegetarian protein options. I hope this makes vegetarianism a bit clearer, and maybe it's not really something to agree or disagree with, just something that happens to be. smile!!
