The thing is you can only get one prize a day, so I guess it's good that they give you two or three chances to win something a day.

there's another problem with it too.... the default time is every hour that it checks for an alert, if your toolbar checked for an alert right before one was posted, the next hour when it checks again it will light up because an alert was posted but that's the message you'll get because you missed the actual time frame for the giveaway.... then there's another issue you could run into which is if it's set to false...
here's how to change your settings:
1.open a new window or tab and enter about:config into the address bar and hit enter 2. type neopets into the filter and hit enter 3. look at neopets.toolbar.AlertPeek.AlertFlag it should have these settings: user set, boolean, and true - if it says false, you need to change that by right clicking on false and then select toggle which will make it true 4. now look at neopets.toolbar.AlertPeek.Interval and it should say 60 but you can change that to how ever many minutes you want it to be... if you set it at 10, it will check for new alerts every 10 minutes. right click on it and select modify to enter in the new value (it has a habit of returning to 60 though, so sometimes that won't work)
once your settings are the way you want, just close it down

Oh my...I just now read this thread...and so just now found out you can snag free ITEMS from the toolbar?
Where have I been all these months?
I thought all the free items you guys talked about were like...premium items or something.
Aaackk...downloading toolbar... *drools*

I just downloaded and installed the Neopets toolbar. But it's weird...I can't select it from the list. When I click on View, then Toolbars, and the list comes up, Neopets is there, but it is in faded letters and I can't select it. I have all my settings the way their FAQ sections says to put them, and it still won't work. I have an email sent in to their tech dept., but if anyone has any ideas please post them.
I'm running IE 6.0.2900 so it should work, but it doesn't.
Never mind...I found the problem and it works now.

So far every alert I've gotten has the message about what...you want something for free? And then pretty much tells you to forget it. Oh well...this is only my first day with it.

oh it pops up a few times a day...i have gotten a few great prizes too..one was 100 dubloon coin...a fire petpet pb, and a pirate pb..and couple furnishings...but it has dropped the value on a lot of the items...which doesn't hurt my feelings on some of the neofurnishings...

i've gotten tons of new prizes, but if i'm not online when the alert goes off, it will still be flashing when i do come on which is when you get that "oh you want something for free" or that you missed the last giveaway which is the one telling you that there aren't any more for that day
for some reason they've been doing them almost daily now too, and for a while it was weeks separating the days they'd have giveaways, so i don't know what's up with it

I love that you get free stuff. It does seem like its every day now which is great! I usually get books. The value of all my prizes has not been lower than 1600 each but never higher than 5000 NP I think that's aboslutely perfect that they have it this way and then an occasional unbuyable. Sounds great. Definetly worth cluttering the window with the NP bar. (I don't use it for anything else but the ALERTs, lol.)
