you have to check out this weeks neohome spotlight..it would kill dl because all the stacking but its very artistically done and such an eye for detail..the house itself and furnishings would cost a fortune but the rooms themselves aren't that great but well you'll see what i am talking about when you visit...not a great home for a neopet but very artistic work done... www.neopets.com/neohome.phtml?owner=newmommynvegasagain

and man the nps..in the one room alone they had to use like 15 exotic dressers and those are unbuyables..then they have the astroblade statue thing and its unbuyable..no skimping on stuff in that home!

*drools* Lol, I wish I had the np to do whatever I wanted with a neohome. Actually, I'm not even sure what I'd like to with a neohome. You know, there's almost too much to do on neopets. It'll never get old

lol isn't that the truth..i wish games paid out bigger nps for scores cause i sure like to spend the nps or unlimit the amount of times you can play a game per day. cause i don't like that many of the games to make the kind of nps i need to do all the spending i want to do...i mean i don't think there are to many rooms in my neohome i haven't wayyy over spent on and it would be nice if i could play long enough to earn the nps then spend instead of dipping into my bank acct.

You're very right, I don't like that Neohome. Call me a Neohome purist but I just think it's so stupid to take furniture and try to make it look like something else. How can you live in a Neohome with all that crap piled up in it so that if you look at it from the cieling that it looks like a pretty carpet or like a Garlic Kiko. I take my Neohome approach the same way I would a real home approach.
Would you stack a bunch of Stone Pots and a round blue table in your real home to look like a fountain from the cieling? No, you'd want a real fountain so that it looks ilke a fountain that you can enjoy from every angle. It's just silly, IMO, to stack for appearance.

Oh I thought I mentioned this in my post but there are some things that were done nicely in the Neohome which I did like. That is all.

well i thought the artistic value was amazing..i don't think they really did it with intent to make it functionable just creative. i thought the layout was bad but i loved their eye for creation of the pets or petpets. kind of on the same level as the artist who do street art and make 3d images

Well yea I mean that's cool when they make pictures of things. But still, I think its silly to use Neohomes to for that purpose. However, it is interesting to see what pieces of furniture they use to create the pets. Like in the Albariss room.
Like I said though, the non-stacking aspects of that Neohome (where furniture and things are arranged to look like what they are) is pretty cool in places.

yeah and i am guilty of some but not too much..i don't like it but when i want something in the home and can't buy it..i do tend to try and make something that looks like i want it to look...i don't go overboard but its mainly for my enjoyment of decorating. i would love to win the neohome spotlight but i am not gonna try and enter again til i get it like i want it

lol, well don't feel guilty, it just doesn't float my boat is all. Today's Spotlight winner does A LOT of stacking and some of her rooms are just confusing. And this is where my problem lays. In your head a bunch of things stacked together might look like the perfect SOMETHING but to anyone else who is not using your brain/imagination, it looks like a pile of junk stacked up in the Neohome. www.neopets.com/neohome.phtml?owner=julseeySome of her rooms have all kinds of things stacked up and I have no idea what they are supposed to be. This happens frequently with just regular furniture but the advantage with regular is that you can just click on the item and it will tell you what it is, then you can scroll down the page and see what the item looks like. If someone has 10 different things stacked up to look like something and you have no idea what it is, you can't just click on it because its 10 different things. Today's spotlight winner does have a flair for arrangement and while some of her rooms confuse me, she made a few BEAUTIFUL rooms that use very little or NO abstract staking and look how nice they came out: www.neopets.com/neohome.phtml?type=furniture&showtext=no&neohome_room_id=34167346&resident=julseeywww.neopets.com/neohome.phtml?type=furniture&showtext=no&neohome_room_id=33054654&resident=julseeywww.neopets.com/neohome.phtml?type=furniture&showtext=no&neohome_room_id=33028171&resident=julseeyYou can tell what everything is and if something confuses you, you can click to see what its supposed to be. There's no abstract staking. Now of course, I don't hate all stacking... stacking that makes sense is absolutely fine to me. For instance, putting lamps on tables, pillows on beds, or flowers in pots etc are fine because that's some of their logical purposes. Again, I'm not trying to convert anyone to agree with me (I'm sure I'm in the minority anyway) just trying to make my opinion clear. I don't hate stacking, I just don't welcome it in my Neohome when its used for abstract items.

yeah and that middle room you used as an example to me is done beautifully..even though the floors are entertainment cabinets i believe thats right but the colors work so great together i can imagine a very romantic and beautiful bathroom done in that color scheme.

Wow, that took a lot of work and neopoints, but I agree with dl for the most part-I want to make my neohome fiunctional and use things for the purposes to which they are supposed to be used.

Well aside from the and cabinets as tiles, I really liked that room because it doesn't rely on stacking to make a gorgeous room.

ok i am not going to even comment on this weeks winner! last weeks winner was nothing but neogardens..not the home not one room...and not sure how they judge this contest but i would think they wouldn't let someone win that has not one stick of furniture in their home nor one garden item in the gardens! makes you really wonder! so should i apply for the spotlight each week even if i haven't done my house like i want it? whats up with this!?!?

Wow, that Neohome is...pretty much amazing. Some of the pets in the rooms look identical to their actual items, like the Buzzer and Candychan...some diverge from the actual and still look cute, like the Baby Meerca..But others aren't that great, like the Slorg. Ya win some, ya lose some. Dl, your opinion is that stacking doesn't work out when you're trying to be realistic, but maybe these people who "specialize" in stacking aren't aiming for realism, and instead use their Neohomes as an artistic outlet. I think their houses are fun to look at, as are non-stacked, well-designed ones like yours. I like both, but when it comes to what I'd do in my Neohome, I'd probably opt NOT to stack.

Well as most of you probably know the Neohome Spotlight competition is now only Neohomes version 2.0. And here is the first winner's link to their home. I gotta say they did an amazing job =) www.neopets.com/neohome/property/show/34675
