Just thought I would post something that happened to me so everyone can avoid it. I pay for my premium account with an ACH out of my checking account using my debit card. My expiration date was due to be up at the end of this month, but instead of letting me know what they were going to do to give me a chance to correct it, they just deleted my premium account. I was rather surprised when my portal just disappeared. I contacted them and was able to have the it reinstated with the new expiration date and they put everything back exactly as it was. So if any of you pay with a credit card or a debit card with an expiration date, better keep an eye on it or the same thing will happen to you.
I also posted this on the regular guild board so everyone can see it.

I don't have Premium but thanks for sharing this warning for all the members who do. Certainly something to remember so you can avoid it easily.

I'm sorry, I don't follow... how does the exp date on the card affect that? Why was it deleted?

It does. If you have a standing automatic debit using a Visa or MC or some other credit or debit card, they all have expiration dates. If that date has expired, or is really close to expiring to where there has probably been a new card mailed out, the transaction will not go through. The bank will reject it. I have my premium payment automatically taken out of my checking account every month, using my Visa debit card. I just got my new one a couple of weeks ago in the mail, making the old one obsolete. I just didn't remember to update it with Neopets. Art's is on a different card, so his was fine. Although we did cancel his because he doesn't use it anymore. Since I had to call them anyway we just got rid of one of the premium accounts.
Most places will send you a notification ahead of time to remind you to call them and update the expiration date. Or they will mail you a form to return with the new information on it.
For example, if I put in someone's Visa number on a Lia Sophia order, and their expiration date is wrong, the computer won't accept the order and will kick it back out.

What really bugs me is that you can't simply go to your account profile and change your payment info. You've got to actually call them and wait on the phone forever until a person answers to take the updated information.
Neopets is a pretty cool site technologically, but some of the decisions they make regarding real money don't show much sense.

I'm really glad you posted this bunny. I also have my Premium fee taken out of my account using my debit card, and it also expires this month. I had been wondering how they would handle that. I'll be calling them tomorrow, for sure.

I agree with capt that it's a pain in the rear to have to call them anytime there's a change in the billing - whether it's a card number or just an address change, you have to actually talk to a person instead of just updating it in the system yourself... I'm just so used to being able to make the changes on my own in my own time, not around someone else's schedule - especially since I started work - I don't have any time left over at the end of the day cuz I work from 9-6 so nothing's open before work and nothing's open after work and rarely is anything open on weekends anymore

I would rather update everything online too. But I will admit that I didn't have a long wait this time and the guy that I talked to was very helpful and quick about it. You'd think something as simple as updating your card info would be online though. Most places it is.

Thanks for the heads up Bunny. I have my Premium payments taken automatically from my checking account. I'm not sure if it's from my visa card though. But now I'll look into it even though it doesn't expire until 2009 I think.
