Hey guys, I just barely realized the other day that our current set-up for donations to the guild is technically against Neopets Terms and Conditions. It really stinks HOWEVER, nftysqrt and I were able to come to a solution!!! I have not made the official changes yet but will try to get to them tomorrow but this is basically what is going to happen: The two main donation shops (The General Donations shop and the Donations for Advertisements) will be consolidated into one single shop. Both the silvercloudsguild and the slcg_ads account will no longer be used for guild activities. Since I don't really use my own shop, I will turn MY (dlfreak) shop into the official guild donation shop. We also have a Guild Super Store (slcg_shop) which is also technically against terms and conditions. However, since it is currently run by nftysqrt (and since she does not use her shop, either) Her shop will become the Guild Super Store. I haven't made these changes official yet but would like to ask that no one donate or make any super store purchases until this is cleared up.  Thanks everyone! Can you exactly explain why this is against the terms and conditions? i didn't actually read the rules, so i just want to make sure i don't do anything in the future and that i'm totally in the know.

I know if you look in TNTs guild FAQ, they say that you may have a guild shop, but they don't specify whether it can be used as a donation shop or not. Either way, you're still making money for the guild though.

Ah yes I see! I kept reading in the Neopian Times about only being able to make one shop on all your accounts, I didn't knwo they made exceptions for guilds. But I see now that they do:
However, that allows us ONE account for a guild shop, not two. I think I'll go ahead and keep the slcg_shop account and I'll continue to make my own shop the guild donations shop.

It sounds like you and Nfty have it all under control. I am glad you caught this in the rules, the last thing we wanted was to get our guild in trouble.

Can you exactly explain why this is against the terms and conditions? i didn't actually read the rules, so i just want to make sure i don't do anything in the future and that i'm totally in the know. well i think the reason they have done this is the same reason they quit letting guilds take up money for like pot luck drawings and such. there are to many dishonest guild leaders who set up accounts just to take nps away from players...now tnt can't control what you charge for items in a shop so i don't see how it would be illegal to have items that are selling for 10k or whatever you wanted to charge and even thought we aren't calling it a donation per say its still helping the guild cause its going to our leaders account..and i fully trust dl with my nps. also the guild i belong to before this one they gave rank increases solely by what you donated..if you donate this amount your became whatever the title was..that wasn't right and i can see how that is against the policy. dl runs a very tight guild and i so appreciate him for being so upstanding and honest. and i do think members in some way or form should support their guild...even if its for like the drives, that is advertisement in a way and a cheap way of doing it. but sometimes i like to give nps too especially when i am above my bank account goal. |

Thanks fairy_tale! The only rule breaking is that you are allowed to have five accounts and of those five you can only use one (your primary) to have and run a shop. So since I do use my shop from time to time but not for anything major, I'm going to use that as the guild donation shop. It's nice when members support the guild with donations but I just want to stress that there is absolutely no pressure to do so. Donations should be of your complete own free will and trust of our guild. Oh and the only thing delaying me from opening my shop as the official donation shop is that I'm selling off a bunch of junk that I have first. Once that is done, I'm going to stock up the shop with items for donations. |
