You find yourself high in the mist-carved mountains of Shenkuu, wandering along its curved bridges and exotic architecture. Wanting to take a piece of this amazing landscape back to Neopia Central with you, you duck into the shop known as Wonderous Weaponry. There, among the gleaming sai and chakrams, you find a small deck of cards hidden on a high shelf and covered with a thick layer of dust. The cards are beautifully painted, depicting various lands and beings from Neopia. I've managed to figure out a couple of things when the page decides to load for me, which it's not most of the time. I've finished one game, of course losing, but it gave me a better idea how to play. First, there are five rounds per game. So even if you have a lower score than your pet for the first 4 rounds, as long as that last round you score a total higher, then you win. It doesn't cost anything to play the game, but you lose points if you lose the whole game. Since I lost, it cost me 315 NP. Basically whatever your pet's score is you have to pay them. For example, Spinx won which granted her an automatic 200 NP and she had 115 points higher than me in cards so that's where the difference came in. If I'd had that score, that's the NP I would have won. The confusing part is trying to figure out what scores points and what doesn't. You first have to determine what are matches and what aren't. Capture Matches are weird. You can have the different types of cards matched up: Worlds, Altador Cup, Neopets, or Petpets or you can match up the different Neopian Worlds that are depicted: Faerieland, Space Station, Haunted Woods, Terror Mountain, Altador, Shenkuu, Lost Desert, Mystery Island, Tyrannia, Roo Island, Krawk Island, and Meridell. There are 48 cards total so you would think that since there are 12 kinds of cards divided up into 4 different types that you would have one type of card for each kind, but this isn't the case. Second, your scores are determined by the total cards per scoring matches that you get from your capture matches. You can capture 2 Faerieland World cards and it doesn't mean much. You then capture several other world cards which eventually add up to say 12 world cards total at the end of the round and you've got yourself 3 points: 1 for your first set of 10 and then 1 point for each additional card. Even though the rules show the 3 flying petpets as a combo, you can't actually match those up for a capture match, so that score has to be reached by gathering those cards individually. This, I assume, is why this game is considered a strategy. I haven't figured out how come sometimes at the end of your turn you capture only 2 cards and other times you make a capture match and it stays there for more cards to accumulate. I've also run into it being Spinx's turn and there was a capture match on the table and at the end of her turn, I captured the cards when I didn't do anything. Go figure. Also, you cannot play more than 1 card in your hand per turn. You could have several different available moves but you'll have to wait to play them until your next turns. However, after you have manually played a card from your hand, the game kindof takes over for your draws. As long as the card that you draw is playable for a capture match, you can continue to draw. You only stop drawing new cards when it has to be placed in a new spot because it wouldn't play on anything else. After the draw phase is over, is when all capture matches are moved into your safe pile (this is the piles of little cards above your hand) Sorry, don't know how else to call it right now. But I hope that this helps you all out some at least.

I'm telling you I'd actually almost like to beat my pet about now.... I KNOW i'm making capture matches yet they sit there for her to snatch right up... she keeps getting all the World Cards and all the Flying Petpets
is it a glitch? do I suck THAT bad? why do the directions show a capture match of TWO to FOUR yet when I get TWO nothing happens?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
*yanks hair out in frustration*
oh and as to that playing as long as you can from the draws... I only get one play, but Spinx can play as long as there's matches for the cards she's drawing
*bangs head on desk*

Ok, I've been making a small fortune off this game so far.
I've figured it out. The hardest part is not understanding what are matches, but figuring out why sometimes you make a capture match and other times you don't, since there are only 4 of each card type, if you play a card on one making a capture match and then you draw another one, you can't take just 3 cuz then the last card would have nothing to match with... so you have to realize what you have and what your pet could have
that's where the strategy comes in, do they have the last card to match that pair or is it in the draw pile somewhere?
I'm trying to see if there's a daily limit of neopoints you can earn on this game or if it goes until your pet gets bored

I played this game for the first time yesterday, and I'm hooked! Even though I don't completely know what I'm doing, lol. I understand the captures part, its just taking me awhile to get the scoring part down. I have managed to win a couple of games though!

since it finally dawned on me that I'd better make sure when I put a good card down that it doesn't make 3 and started being able to keep track of if she'd already captured the other 2 type cards or if there was another one floating around, I've been stomping her behind... though the most i've won on a game was about 350 and it's not going in our games list which stinks

Okay, just when I find a game I really like, they take it down. I hope it's just to fix the glitches, because I want to play!!!!!!!!!!

i know, after i got it figured out i was making a killing.... and i don't think they've put a limit on how much you can play yet or anything cuz i spent over 4 hours when it was up playing it... though so far i have maxed out at 475 for winnings.... rather puny but i don't get all 5 world or all 3 flying petpets very often
