Okay, the subject of this thread really doesn't do it justice but I was wanting to show tanzi the coloring picture I did for the Mystery Island Theme Week back in 2005. Well, we finally managed to find the thread and there's pictures from pirate coloring pages and pirate drawings.
I was just wondering why we keep the old threads like that when you can't actually see anything.
I thought that we could have a photobucket account for slcg to put all of those pictures on it that way no matter what, we can always go back and view everything... I don't have that particular picture anymore because of all the times my computer's crashed and I've lost all my information.
That coloring page was the last one I ever entered and now no one can see our old works like that.
I just think we could use it to kindof archive the works done by our members. For example, we have all these beautiful shops and galleries and such and we could post screenies of them in the threads or whatever so that after they've been changed you can still get an idea of what it looked like, like how tnt archives the old gallery spotlights
we could use it to store screenies of our drives and such too... I feel like by not having this stuff, we're somewhat losing the integrity of the guild, after all, we're incredibly old, why not show it with all of our old works too?

That is a FANTSTIC idea!! I don't know why I never thought of that. After this theme week I'll upload all of our holiday images to a brand new photobucket account and then we can leave the images there indefinetly. When I get time I can also go ahead and add all the old images.
That's so funny, I was just thinking about how to be able to do just this thing, I can't believe I didn't think of photobucket!!

Have I mentioned how BRILLIANT this idea is? actually... no hehehe but what really brought it up was when I said that i would like to take a screenie of the drive... then when i found the thread and the pics were like I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOO" so that's what came to mind, maybe it needs some fine tuning or whatever, but the storage on photobucket and the bandwidth for free accounts are MASSIVE so I didn't figure we'd run out of space you know |

Well the reason the pirates images came up is somewhat complicated, read at your own risk:
The guild images used to be hosted at dlfreak.bol.ucla.edu which was my original school account. However, since "dlfreak" was also my email address name I wanted to change it to "jinigo1" which is more professional. So I did that but instead of changing the name, the school created a whole new account for me called jinigo1, leaving the dlfreak account online but unaccessible. And now the stuff stored on dlfreak.bol.ucla.edu (which I can never access again) is there forever... can't delete it can't change it! Anyway, the reason its pirates is because those were the last images (ie: the last theme week) from when I changed from dlfreak to jinigo1. In addition, for each theme week, I upload member's files as their usernames. So if you entered the coloring contest for one theme week and then entered again in the next one, your image from the previous contest was replaced with the new one for the current theme week. So, again, pirates was the last theme week before the dlfreak account became a ghost account.
And yes, I have every image submitted for every theme week ever. I keep each theme week organized in its own seperate folder. So when I do upload pictures from all the theme weeks past, they will go back to our very very first theme week ("Summer Fun") and have submissions from all the way back then! Each theme week will have its own seperate folder on our guild photobucket account. And just to avoid any problems, I'm going to make the account public to view, but not public to upload. It's purpose will be solely for guild archival purposes, primarily: theme weeks.
PHEW! I am not responsible for any exploded heads during the course of reading all of that!

hahahaha, right! but you are DA MAN for keeping all those pics!!!!! becca, give him a kiss for me, I've been wanting that faerie lenny back since I lost it  oh and one more thing, if you need a volunteer to go back through and modify all the old posts to put the images on there, I can do that I was hoping that you would make the account publicly viewable but I never expected anyone else to be able to upload to it.... that would be weird |
