"Twas a warm night before new years, and all through the place..."
I watched the guardians all gather in the ballroom for a meeting to discuss all the heat generated by the weather and how the guilds members were not in great cheer. Serena exclaims that she well understood, this isn't the time to want warmth from the sun, its that time of year we expect a little chill in the weather and get to try on our new Christmas fashions such as her new sweater! They shut the door to come up with a plan..i wish i could tell you exactly what was said and what they were up to, but i am sure eventually we will find out for ourselves!
I run into indoor pool where all the guild members swam and told everyone that the guardians were meeting and making some kind of plan! I didn't even say what little I heard. The guilds spirits rose two levels I guess between all the excitement of Christmas everyday shortly after seems dismal, your full from all the goodies and big meals, your broke after doing all you can to make everyones Christmas grand...its a very difficult time to be overly cheery!
Later that evening I was asked to come before the guardians because they realized I saw their meeting and knew something was up, they handed me a handful of invitations...i have no idea at this point what they were planning but knowing our guardians, why even try to guess! They always find a way to suprise me with what they come up with! I just take the invitations from them and politely say thank you...they were all smiling as i went to deliver all the invites to this "suprise" whatever. I go back to the pool and the members jumped out to see what news i now had for them...and i just handed the invitations to each one.
Each member looked at the other with this "are they kidding look" i couldn't take it anymore and opened mine as i handed out the last invite....it simply read
"New Years Eve, please be in the rose garden for a grand new years eve celebration. Don't forget to wear all the wonderful sweaters Malla knitted for you for Christmas, the scarf Audra knitted and all the wonderful winter pretty's you received as a gift. We will be taking pictures and its winter themed! Now, let me just tell you, you think we were already down about the warmth outside? Now the gaurdians wanted us to dress in winter wear?? well we all decided to do as we were asked but to wear other clothes underneath our clothes so we can manage not to have a heat stroke! Our spirits again back into gloom out of complete not looking forward to this gathering AT ALL!
the time came and member after member walked down the stairs and gathered to go as a group into the garden...we were greated at the door by Alexia who smiled at each of us ( and she was still wearing her normal beautiful SLEEVELESS gown!) and handed each of us a disposable camera so we could also take pictures for keepsakes. we entered the vestible and saw the rose garden in bloom with palm trees added and lighted with christmas lights and they did have it decorated brilliantly all the guilds Christmas decorations still. We step out into the gardens and illumenia shouts from above us! heads up!!! When all the sudden a huge bubble incased the garden....cold air blast from all directions and snowflakes begin falling down upon us! in several areas around the bubble snow was falling at great speed! our mouths drop in amazement! The guardians rented huge ice graters and imported huge amounts of ice and rented these tremendous coolant systems to keep the temperature cold enough to get the flakes to stick! we all ran through the snow in our finest winter wear...when all the sudden....SPLAT! a snowball knocks Dlfreaks toboggan right off his head! Malla!!!!!! Dl half laughing and still in somewhat of a shock screams! And don't you know....a glorious snowball fight began!

"Twas a warm night before new years, and all through the place..."
The windows were open and a pleasant breeze was blowing through the castle. It was unseasonably warm for December when most Neopians were expecting snow. Outside the castle kitchen windows a few hungry Candychans had their noses in the air, because they could smell the delicious fragrance of gingerbread that the royal chef was baking. They tried to climb up the vines on the side of the castle to get to the kitchen window, but ended up sliding back down with a whoosh, where they fell in a little heap, giggling and gasping for air. Alexia smiled and turned away, because as entertaining as the little Candychans were, she had more important things on her mind.
Alexia was a bit perplexed, because she had intended to be the marshall for the usual parade of sleighs that wound through the kingdom on Christmas Eve. She just didn’t see how the parade could be held without snow, because the blades on the sleighs wouldn’t glide without it. And as warm as it was, there didn’t seem to be much chance that snow would be on the ground by Christmas Eve. That was just one day away! She swept off to her study to try to come up with an answer.
Just then, across the drawbridge came the Shop Wiz. Because his usual duties involve searching for sales, most everyone forgot that he was still a very powerful wizard. He had heard there wasn’t to be a parade, so he came to see if he could help with a solution. As he walked across the bridge, his gaze fell upon the crystal clear moat, and an idea formed almost immediately. A huge smile spread across his face. He hurried off to Alexia’s study with a purposeful stride.
Christmas Eve morning dawned, and it was again a warm, pleasant day. Any other time the balmy temperature would be most welcome. But the entire kingdom was distressed that there would be no snow, and thus, no parade. Even so, everyone was determined to keep the spirit of Christmas in the air, so preparations were made just as if it was as cold as ice outside.
It was a tradition for the castle musicians to blow the long slender trumpets as a signal that it was time to gather for the parade. They were uncertain what to do, and then Alexia appeared, followed by all the Guardians in their holiday finery.
“Blow the trumpets, my good men! Announce the parade!”, said Alexia with a sweep of her hand.
So they looked at each other with puzzled glances, and blew the trumpets. Immediately the Shop Wiz appeared on the drawbridge in a poof of red and green smoke interspersed with sparkling glitter. In his hand he had a beautiful staff that looked like a crystal candy cane covered with red and silver jewels. He struck the staff on the bridge, and lo and behold the moat was transformed into a solid icy surface, all the way around the castle.
Everyone hurried and got their sleighs ready to go with all their holiday decorations and sparkling lights. They were informed by the castle groomsmen not to take their horses and reindeer onto the ice because it would be dangerous for them… and that the sleighs would be drawn by magical power.
One by one the sleighs were lifted on a magical current and they began to glide on the ice and form a magnificent parade! It was truly a beautiful site, and Alexia and the Guardians were very pleased indeed. In spite of no snow, the parade turned out to be one of the best holiday parades ever!

"Twas a warm night before new years, and all through the place..."
...preparations were occurring for the party of the year. Guardians, guild members, and Neopets were all lending a hand or a paw in decking out the castle. As Malla leaned precariously on a ladder to hang up garlands and Audra worked her magic on a yule log, the warm atmosphere got to the workers.
A laboring Usul wiped her brow and said, "It's a shame we aren't getting any snow. Our cloud just had to be warm this season."
Everyone nodded their heads, looking wistfully through streamer-covered windows. But back to work they went, with minutes to spare until the festivities began.
The party was a hit. Young petpets took a chance at ring toss, while older guests discussed the finer moments of Year 9. A couple Neopets even joined in a game of Spin the Bottle, until Alexia scolded them for using a bottle of fine Achyfi!
Finally, the ten seconds to which all the rest of the party served merely as a preamble. Everyone gathered in the ballroom where the dozen grandfather clocks left no doubt as to the onset of the new year.
"10...9...8..."
The magnitude of the voices counting down built with each tick of the clocks. As all this occurred, Aviena took a step back to admire the room for the last few moments of Year 9. The decorations and games set up today reflected strong teamwork and talent amongst the guild members. If only there could be snow...
With an impromptu decision, Aviena flourished her hand; beams appeared across the ceiling, emitting fake snowflakes! It was good enough...
"...1!!!"
The countdown ended, and everyone was enraptured in the start of Year 10. Then all was dark, and the snow ceased to fall. Was it the end of Neopia?! Hysteria erupted.
Aviena realized the snowflake beams were one too many decorations needing a power supply, so... the power had simply gone out! She laughed as she whisked away the beams and regenerated the electricity. After she had eased the alarm by explaining this to everyone, Year 10's celebrations officially began.
