Awesome decorations, Autumn! Thanks for bringing them in. They really brighten the mood. This reminds me of a trivia question I heard on the radio this morning. I guessed wrong but do you know the answer?! Question: American families will spend an average of $52.00 on this this year, a 19% decrease from last year. What is it? Answer... Decorations! |

Was just about to close the shop when a few late night shoppers walked in. Thanks, Cloak! My pets are going to get diabetes if I let them have so many sweets all at once, and they just received some wonderful treats from devin, but they're anxious to eat the holiday cookies tomorrow for a snack!

I was back in the storeroom getting my broom and dustpan, because I was going to do a little sweeping and cleaning before I unlocked the front door. I heard the door open, which was odd since I thought it was locked. I cocked my head to one side and listened intently, but didn't hear anything so I went on with what I was doing. Then I heard one tiny giggle. Then I heard whispers, and what sounded like a lot of scurrying around. Great, I thought...now we have mice or some other varmint in here! I grabbed the broom and brandishing it overhead ran into the center of the shop looking wildly about for whatever fiendish creatures were doing all the giggling, whispering, and scurrying. I didn't see anything at first. Then I noticed that the Christmas tree in the corner was swaying ever so slightly. I crept over to it, and leaned down to peer inside it. I felt like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation! Any minute now I expected to have something come flying out of there at me. But instead, the branches were pushed aside by a little striped paw, and a sweet little face with the most adorable eyes peered out of the depths of the tree. It was a pretty little Candychan!  I gently reached in and gathered the little petpet in my arms, and it gave me a sweet little hug around the neck. No sooner had I gotten my hug, then five MORE Candychans hopped down out of the tree! [img src="[http://images.neopets.com/items/candychan_red.gif/img] ![]() images.neopets.com/items/candychan_red.gif"] They all began to dance around, singing Deck The Halls in their little high pitched voices. All except the one I was holding. He seemed quite content to be held close and snuggled up. All of a sudden in the center of the circle of Candychans, a glittery shower of snowflakes began drifting down from the ceiling. It was very magical and mysterious. As soon as the last snowflake descended, there appeared a red basket on the floor, and it was filled with Candy Canes!  Now let me tell you, THAT caused no end of giggling and whispering and jumping up and down among the joyous little Candychans. You would have thought it was a basket full of gold, the way they carried on! When the one I was holding saw the basket of candy canes, he wriggled out of my arms and slipped down to the floor. He ran over to the basket, and began dragging it toward me. It was just too much for him, so his little buddies helped. With some pulling, and some pushing, they managed to bring the festive red basket over to me, and they were so pleased with themselves that they all stood up and clapped merrily. They were all staring at me with expectant expressions on their little striped faces, so I knew I needed to come up with a very exhuberant response. I clapped too, and jumped up and down excitedly. That seemed to be what they wanted to see, and they began hopping and dancing and singing as they headed for the front door. Just as the last one started to go through the doorway, he turned around and shyly smiled at me. I realized he was the one I had been holding for so long. With one arm tucked behind him, he raised his other arm and waved his little paw in a gentle goodbye. I blew him a kiss, and his little cheeks turned as red as Santa's! He ducked his head, and shuffled his feet back and forth a bit, and then with a grin he turned and zipped out the door as fast as he could go! The whole thing only took a few minutes, but there was so much electricity left in the air from the magical petpets, that all the candy cane lights suddenly lit up, even without me plugging them in! THAT was a new one for me. Now, what to do with a red basket full of tasty candy canes! Hmmm...I think I will set the basket on the counter, and let everyone who comes in choose one to enjoy. So, if you haven't gotten your candy cane, please let me know and I will send you one by special delivery. |
