With less than two weeks until we leave for our Cruise in the Bahamas, Nftysqrt fell (this past Friday) and broke her foot! Looks like she and Bunnyrabt can form a club! Anyway, she's in a lot of pain but it's getting better by day; the break was relatively minor (5th and 6th metatarsals). She won't get a cast until the day before we fly out to Florida. The doctor says there may be a chance that the break will heal enough by then (if she keeps off her feet) that she might be able to just have a walking-cast. We're crossing our fingers for that so that we can actually take a dip together into those Bahamian waters.  |

How awful! hopefully the ankle will heal enough for the trip. Even so it can't be easy traveling with a cast, but I am sure she will manage and with your help DL all will go well.

Oh well DANG. I was hoping it wouldn't show up a break and would just be a sprain. Did they give her a boot to wear? I have one instead of a cast (for now anyway) and it has made a big difference in my pain. It velcroes on, and goes up about six inches on my leg..well past the ankle but not clear up on the calf. I wonder if maybe she could have one of those instead of a regular cast? I'm so sorry this is going to put a (slight) damper on your vacation. Ours was limited a bit because of my foot too, although I didn't know it was broken yet because I wouldn't go to the doc until we got back! (I know..I'm stubborn that way) If she could do the velcro boot until you get back, she could take it off while she was in the water, because you don't have your full weight on your feet when you're in the water anyway. Mine actually felt better after I had been in the ocean for a couple of hours. I did read that extra vitamin E helps breaks heal faster, so I'm taking extra besides my regular multivitamin. Can't hurt, so maybe it would be good for Becca too. I'm going to see my doc tomorrow for a check up, and I'm going to ask him for some different pain meds. These make me super emotional and depressed. So if Becca is a little out of sorts her pain meds could be causing it. I didn't realize that was what was going on with me for a while, but when I eased up on the pain meds my mood improved a LOT. Just something to keep in mind for both of you to know.  Keep us posted on how she is doing. Or actually, if she's up to it Becca could continue this thread herself. I feel like we're talking about her like she isn't here! lol Rest, elevation, and occasional ice!! |

wow you might run into my best friend and her two daughters..they are leaving out today to go on a cruise...thats just to show you..what a small world it really is..not sure if all the info is the same but its mighty ironic!

What an amazing trip! It felt so short and so long at the same time, it was great! Nfty's foot is doing a lot better, the bruising is almost all gone and she's been able to take off the walking cast to shower. She's able to walk on it a lot better too but we shouldn't take that too lightly as there's still a lot of healing to do so until we see the doctor again in a few weeks it's light on the feet for now! Anwyway, TONS of amazing pictures to share, can't wait to show them to you all!
