I just received this warning: You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. Please do not post off-site links of ANY kind or advertise commercial websites. Also for your own safety, do not exchange user information for other websites and games (this includes friend codes!) If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage. We have been having discussions on the neosite guild message board about members coming here to sign up, and apparently Neopets doesn't like it. So for the time being at least, I think our new members will just have to find their way on their own. The Neopets staff doesn't want us talking about our website, our message board, or anything not on the Neopet website. I thought we were okay, but I guess not, so just be careful. Getting frozen would NOT be a good thing.

Toldja they get their panties up in a bunch randomly about the randomest things sometimes! Definitely have to toe the line when telling people how to get here. "Our name is our dot com" might be a handy thing to say. I also have it on the guild neosite homepage so you could also direct people to the guild neosite homepage for the link to get here. You can also tell people to Google "silver lined clouds guild" to find us. Devin had the same problem a few weeks ago... dlfreak.proboards32.com/index.cgi?board=generalguild&action=display&thread=4518#73975

Yeah I've been trying to be really careful but it's difficult for new members to find our site even though the link is on our neosite. But since I've already gotten a warning I can't give it to them because I know I'll get my account frozen. I don't know how to get around it =(

Don't they have anything better to do?
i.e... make new ads for games, etc..

You can't even use the words dot com, because that's what I did that caused the reprimand. It's getting ridiculous. We're not exactly directing people to a porn site. Geez.

I know they're just looking out for their users but COME ON! This guild has been around for so long that you would think that they would give us some slack. We actually promote their site so what's the big deal? If they're gonna discourage guilds being active and organized like this they need to give guilds their own forums or something else on their site to keep us on Neopets. Sorry I needed to get that out lol.

There are scores of ways for scammers to take advantage of kids -- and those who aren't sophisticated about complex websites. It's far easier to keep Neopets "safe" by banning *all* outside links than to check each one to decide if it's okay (and remains okay). As for DL's suggestions -- do not risk your account by trying them! -- they are against the rules: 11. Party boards or outside chat rooms of *any* kind ...This message board is an "outside chat room" so promoting it by trickery is a dangerous move.

Whoa calm down, of course there's a reason they don't allow them. They state it all the time that it's to protect users from getting scammed or visiting harmful sites. But yes it's very serious issue as it can get you frozen.

Grr...I'm definitely grumbling over this...that they won't let us direct new members to our message boards...But yes, it definitely is for the safety of all Neopians, not to just pester us. I can't *complain* that they're keeping an eye out for users in general.

Yea I believe it's against the rules to have items NFT... the trading post is for trading so NFT things get a warning, I believe.

Today I read the entire Terms and Conditions page on the site to make sure I know everything about the rules when recruiting people now. I think I mentioned "frequent giveaways" to one person on the boards and I think that's what got me the second warning. I just can't really mention anything to do with our website, forum, competitions, giveaways, etc.
