Wha the ?! Naming Policies..

So, after 7 1/2 years of having a username of 'kinkykay' suddenly the name has been deemed inappropriate and my account has been frozen! I've responded in the hopes of getting it back, but I really hadn't expected the word to be considered that bad.. it was just an adjective beginning with K

So now I have to wait to see if I'll get back my beloved pets, my lab map, my 3 million neopoints..

I doubt I'll get them bak though. It seems oddly.. heartless to be so impersonal to someone who's got an account that old, I didn't even get any sort of warning.

Oh my goodness!!! That's terrible! Surely they will reconsider since it's an old account, or at least give you the option to change your user id. (they can say that isn't possible all they want, but I don't believe it for a minute...they're PROGRAMMERS for pete's sake.)

Keep us posted and let us know how it's going. You can continue to use your user id here until you find out, or if you create another account we can just change the name here. You won't need to start over entirely unless you want to.

They've told me that the name is inappropriate, they cannot change the username and thus will not be giving me back any of my stuff. They're being firm despite the fact 'kinky' can mean slightly bent or askew (what I meant when creating the account) They've said "You may create a new username as long as it is appropriate for this all-ages site." which is all well and good but doesn't get me my babies back!

Well all I can say is if they can't go in and change a username, they need to work on their coding. That's not right to let you go on for years with that name, building up your account and then all of a sudden say "whoops" we can't allow that username. I'm really sorry they did this to you but I don't know any way to fix it if they won't. I tell you though, if they ever do freeze my account for something stupid like that, I will never again buy any Neopet merchandise, continue being premium, or play their sponsor games again. I would probably just create an account so I could continue to be in the guild and just forget the rest of it. You must be so frustrated and disappointed. I know they have to censor things, but really....a username THAT old?

Wow. I would never think that TNT would do something like that and not give you a chance to re-name your account. I would see their logic if you were a new user and just created your account, but your account is almost 8 Years old!!!! What are they thinking?!?!

I know on Xbox live if you have an "inappropriate" name they make you change it but you still get to keep your stats and other stuff, so why would this be any different? I have heard a lot about older accounts being frozen for stupid reasons, I don't know why they wont give their veteran users some slack at least.

I'll be praying that they will give your account back Kay! I'm really sorry they did this to you =(

Oh my goodness, that's terrible! I'm with bunny on this, I don't believe for one second that they don't have the ability to change your username. They created the game and the html coding, they should be able to go in and change it for you. Even if they don't let you choose what username they give you, that's still better than taking away everything you worked so hard for!

Well, that was soul destroying not only did TNT ignore the wording of my last email to them, they obviously just copied and pasted the response they send to people who get their accounts hacked by giving out their email which has nothing to do with me.

Thanks hun, I'm still quite shocked at how sterile and impersonal it is and hoping I will be able to start enjoying the game again without all my fun things to do (a lot of the dailies can't be done for 24-48 hours for a start!)

That's completely unfair!! I don't see how your username could've been passed up if it really was "inappropriate" this whole time, nearly 8 years... You certainly have all the right to be outraged that your account you've worked so hard on should just be taken away. It is truly discourteous of TNT to just send you a mass-produced, generic email response on top of all that. I'm sure they don't check into all cases personally because they've got millions to look at then, but that's just insensitive and unjustified!!
