Hey Everyone! I know there's been discussion about doing a Secret Santa in the Holiday Stuff thread, but I wanted to start a thread saying that however it's done, I'm in, and I want to ask Devin to help me out...(since she participated last year.)
I've been reading the rules and set up from past years including dlfreak.proboards32.com/index.cgi?board=generalguild&action=display&thread=2724&page=1, Where DL had outlined some guildelines and I think I get the just of it, so here it goes. Bunny, feel free to interject especially if I missed something!
Everyone is invited to send a yuletide greeting or gift to another guild member whether you participate in the secret santa or not.
Those who choose to participate in this secret santa activity will need to post here saying that you're in. Please join the festivities before December 20th, because that will give everyone 5 days until Christmas (it's going to be a hectic time in my house and probably everyone elses!).
Once everyone has signed up, each member will be assigned another person. You will be responsible for sending this person a yuletide greeting (with or without a gift, per neopets rules... we can't require you to send a gift to receive one). In the past, gift guidelines have been from 2000 to 5000 nps, but feel free to go over and if you're in need this season, less is ok too.
I WANT TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS THIS YEAR WITH NEOPETS RULES, SO JUST SO EVERYONE IS CLEAR, TO PARTICIPATE YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE ENCOURAGED, NOT REQUIRED, TO BUY A GIFT FOR SOMEONE, AND YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE A GIFT FROM THE PERSON WHO IS ASSIGNED YOU, BECAUSE YOU ALL HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO HAVE TO "BUY IN" TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE GIFTS.
Once you've been assigned a person to send greetings to, you can do a few different things. One thing to do is start shopping! You can send them gifts by sending the gifts through me (so that you can send them anonymously.... you can choose to send your gifts anonymously or just tell the person who you are, it's up to you!) or maybe The Ghost of Christmas Present will come around and offer to transport gifts for you, so that you can send small gifts to see if the person you're buying for will guess you before Christmas! Or, just give the person a gift and or greeting on Christmas by setting up a trade for them or giving it directly to them (recommended to give it directly to them because it's against neopets rules to set up a trade for a gift requiring someone to give you an item back to get their gift.) and sending them a neomail revealing you as their secret santa.
Last but not least, BE COMMITTED! Don't sign up with no intentions of following through with your duties as a santa! Make sure everyone gets a little bit of holiday cheer spread their way this season.

P.S. The reason I put this all in a post viewable by everyone instead of sending Devin and Bunny messages alone is that I want to make sure there are no problems, no kinks to work out, and that everyone understands the way this is working and can give their negative or positive feedback out in the open and keep everyone updated on any changes in the program! Hopefully this can be a time of great fun and cheer for all!
