I love rping!! I do it every time I go onto neopets
RP slang:
ooc = out of character (use this when you want to talk to the person instead of their character
bic = back in character (use this when you were in ooc but then switched back to your character
ex:
ooc: hey what's up?
bic: suddenly she glanced up, watching the full moon surface ahead, painting itself on the lake below.)
(you can probably guess these but whatever)
list = a list intro where you put it like this:
Name: so and so
Age: 500
Gender: Female
Appearence:
Personality:
and so on. A lot of rpers hate these kinds of intros
Paragraph intro = when you introduce your character with all the aspects of the list intro except in a way that you are in your character. ex:
Scarlet ran through the city, her amber hair billowing behind her. The pale light from the stars reflected off of her bone white skin. Making a sharp turn, her black dress swished in the wind....
and so on until you fullfill the requirements of the list intro and get into the story. Usually role players like this to be 3-5 posts long (each post is 400 words long).
Link = your link to your petpage. On the petpage should be a list intro, a picture, and sometimes a paragraph intro. It should be much more detailed than your usual list intro though. Again not all board leaders like the players to use this.
Semi-Literate = have a basic understanding of grammer and spelling (a few mistakes is excepted) and be able to have ok posts, usually no one liners.
Literate = have a basic understanding of grammer and spelling (again a few mistakes are excepted) and be able to make good posts, one liners are mostly frowned upon.
That's all I can think of, and make sure you read the rules because sometimes the board leaders (the ones who start the thread) put things in the rules to make sure the players have read the rules.
EX:
1. Type 123 if you read the rules
Type:
ooc: 123
EX:
1. Toss me something cat related to join
Type:
ooc: *tosses cat toy*
EX:
!. (rule here)
@(rule here)
#(rule here)
$. Tell me what happened to the numbers to join
Type:
ooc: The numbers ran off to join broad way.
Usually writers and book fanatics enjoy the rp boards, it is a place to do anything from make an alternate ending to someone making up a whole different plot almost like a book, and you inserting your own characters into the book. I don't know if you wanted a guide or not, but I decided to post a whole guide for anyone who does decide to rp (role play) in the future. I'd love to role play with anyone here, if they enjoy fantasy, wolf, street dog, vampire, hogwarts, mystery, horror, or a new and exciting rp, then neomail me! I'd love to join!
Other things that I forgot to mention:
chatspeak is severley frowned upon, do not do this in ooc form unless the board leader says it is ok. Always ask to join unless the board leader says otherwise, otherwise you will most likely not get in. And lastly always wait until the board leader says you can post before you do. Let them get in the plot, setting, and rules first, before you even think about asking to join.
Hope that helped someone out there!
