Hi guys...been wondering where I've been? I called AT&T to drop the long distance service on my phone, and while I was talking to the service rep he mentioned that there were new internet access promotions. I found out that I was paying more for their slowest dsl than the current promotion for their fastest connection speed! Sooo....I opted to change to the fastest one, and the guy said it would be completed the next day. As soon as I hung up I told Art that I just KNEW it would mess everything up. Almost any time I change anything with my service it gets messed up. Sure enough, the next day, I had almost no connection speed at all. It would finally connect after endless waiting, and then it wouldn't stay connected more the maybe 30 seconds. I do all my work online, all my banking and bill paying, my guild stuff, email, you name it. I was fit to be tied. I called the service dept and got a less-than-stellar rep, to put it mildly. He actually asked me if all my cables were plugged into the computer! I almost answered and said no, they're just laying on the floor next to it but I thought the signal would just jump on over to the pc. <shakes head> He wanted me to try all kinds of things, trying to convince me it was on MY end. Funny, it worked perfectly fine the night before they started messing with it, and I hadn't changed anything here. So.....he says he will need to have a technician come out, and he gives me a long number for the work order and says someone will call. Do you really think anyone called? They had ALL our phone numbers, home, my cel, Art's cel, so I know they didn't even attempt calling. I finally gave up and called again. This time I got a guy with at least half a brain, and he did some checking and found out that although it SAYS we can have that access speed in my area, the lines here won't handle it. He found that I could have the next to the fastest speed, but he said he couldn't do it, he would have to put in a work order for the next day. It's probably a very simple thing to do, but could he do it then? Oh NOOOOOOOOOOO. So, I've been waiting and waiting, and driving over to my parent's house to work on their computer. Finally tonight it seems they have it fixed, and it is faster.
Tomorrow I'm going to hook up my new all in one that I ordered from Newegg. Got a great deal on it...I love that site. I have ordered from them several times and everything always comes in just a couple of days. Do you really think it did this time? Nope. Never mind that I have to have my scanner for work and mine totally quit. I will have to say though, that it wasn't Newegg's fault. I was tracking it online, and it made it to Indianapolis, and then what do you know? UPS LOST it. They LOST a 20 lb. box with my all in one in it. So of course then I had to wait on a claim to be filed and approved, etc., and then another one had to be sent out. I finally got it today.
I don't think I'm having very good luck where technology is concerned, do you?
Anyway, that's what I've been up to as far as my internet and stuff like that goes.
