Autumn suggested that a new guild activity might be to have a story that the guild members add to. So following is the beginning of the story. Please add to it as you see fit, keeping your post to a reasonable size. We don't want to finish the story in two days! lol Have fun, and be creative! The Story All had been quiet in the castle for some time now. No galas had been held, and no parties were even being planned. The castle cook decided it would be a good time to clean the pantry, and scrub all the cooking pots, so she was busily at work. She was the only one who seemed to have any direction for her energy. The few that were staying in the castle spent their days reading in the library, or languishing in the gardens. Even the moat was still. Occasionally a sudden swirl of magical current would stir up a flurry of faerie dust, but that didn't happen often and ended almost before it began. It was beginning to be just a tiny bit monotonous. On this particularly sunny morning, a small group of Neopets were frolicking back and forth on the glass bridge leading to the castle. They were bedecked in ribbons and flowers, and one of the little Unis was even wearing a jeweled collar. They were a fine sight to see. Their owners were seated nearby, and smiled fondly at the spirited Neopet antics. Suddenly, there was a clamoring in the forest the likes of which had not been heard for weeks! The little Neopets stopped still in their tracks, and all eyes turned toward the towering trees. With a great crackling of bushes there stepped into the clearing...........

a gigantic Grarrl! He towered over the Neopets and their owners, at least fifty feet from the claws on his toes to the top of his massive head.
Everyone screamed in terror and fled to the castle. They swiftly barricaded the doors. The Neopets' owners stayed by the doors to keep watch from the nearby windows, while the Neopets themselves took refuge in the library.
The Uni with the jeweled collar looked gravely around at the others, all the sparkle gone from her eyes, and said....

"This is strange indeed. Why, I haven't seen this in all my uni years and well....it just ruffles my mane to see it."she said, her eye wide from fear. She looked around, wanting to see if she wasn't the only one that was scared by the ferocious Grarrl. She had never seen one just attack out of fun, just when they where angry. What was going on?
She turned to her companions, her eyes still wide and waited.......

To the surprise of all, there began a very soft tapping. "Tap, tap, tap." Then a pause, and then another "tap, tap, tap". This went on for a few minutes before any of the Neopians were brave enough to investigate. Finally, a Faerie Ixi took a big gulp and leapt into the air. She flew higher and higher, and found a place to land on top of the tallest library bookshelf. From there she could see out the highest library window. It was a beautiful stained glass window of every color, with one section being a very faint pink. She could see clearly through the pink glass, and she saw what appeared to be the top of the hat the massive Grarrl had on top of his large, and very frightening head. She couldn't see what he was doing there, but it seemed as though the tapping noise was coming from him. She crept ever closer to the window pane for a better look, and she saw that...

there was a beautiful Grey Faerie sitting on top of the Grarrl's hat tapping on the window with her delicate fist. The Uni quickly ran to the window, grabbed the handle in her teeth, and pulled it open. The Grey Faerie fluttered in and said......

"Please! Don't be afraid. I'm sorry if we have caused quite a stir-"she looked around at the wide eyes that stared up at her and she gulped,"but you see, my friend here would never hurt you and we are in a deep need for your help. You see, many suns ago, I used to be a light faeire, but as you can see, that is not the case. If you are willing, I would be glad to tell you of my sad tale."she said, looking around at the neopians, waiting for them to indicate for her to carry on with her tale, her little hands shake from nervousness.......

By this time all the Neopet owners had gathered their precious darlings around them for safety, so there was quite a crowd assembed in the library. It's a good thing it had undergone an expansion a couple of years prior! Seconds passed that seemed like hours as no one said a word, and all stared at the little Grey Faerie. It was a bit unusual to see one up close, as they usually kept to themselves, far away in mysterious locations. It was easy to see that this particular Grey Faerie was unusually special, because there was a soft sparkling glow emanating from her that moved and swayed with her every gesture. Finally, after what seemed like an endless pause, a regal looking Neopian man stepped forward. He was holding a rather frail looking Scorchio in his arms, and he said, ".........

"It seems to me that you could have chosen a less frightening way to come talk with us. However, I at least, will listen for now. Are we all in agreement?" He looked around at the others. Everyone nodded solemnly.
"Very well," said the Grey Faerie, sounding relieved. "Well, my story really begins many years ago, when I was still a Light Faerie and....."

living with my two sisters in a small dwelling in the Enchanted Forest, north of the castle. Their names were Zora and Glinzie, and we had been living together for a long time, after our parents passed on. Our days were spent gathering herbs and sunlight, which we mixed together to make the most delightful faerie lamps. At night we would take them and leave them on the doorsteps of the Neopians in the nearby village. They were always so happy and surprised when we knocked on their doors and then hid. They would pick up the lamps and smile, and although they looked around for us, they couldn't see us because of our magical cloaks. We were happy we could please them in this way, and very content with our lives and our home, and it seemed like our blissful existence would go on and on. Then it happened......

"The dark faeries hated us for we, in their case were being too kind to the people of Neopia. You all know how they hate being kind and such, well, we were making them the angriest. So they went to the Darkest Faerie, and told her about us, for they deep down were a bit nervous to try and stop us, for my sisters and I were quite strong, and they feared us. So the darkest faerie told them about her plan to stop us, and at the same time, do something else. So one night, my sisters and I were putting the lamps down when we were attacked by the darkest faerie and her minions. It was horrible! And then...."

the strangest thing happened. Right as the Dark Faerie and her nasty minions were swooping down, a strange light began to glow all around our little house. At first the Dark Faerie seemed not to notice, as she was bent on destroying our home, and us. But then the light began to twinkle, and it seemed to pull into one spot and become brighter. Just when it seemed it would disappear completely into the ground, a majestic Grey Faerie appeared where the strange light had been. She was very regal, and had a fierce look in her eye. As soon as the Dark Faerie realized it was the Grey Faerie Queen, she stopped, hovering in front of her. We couldn't tell if she was afraid, or just curious. The Grey Faerie Queen began to speak.....

"What is this terrible ruckus about?" she exclaimed, throwing her arms wide. "This is not the faerie way. I am most disapointed in all of you Dark Faeries, and in those of you who have deemed it necessary to aid in their senseless attack." She glanced disapprovingly at the shabby minions, causing them to shrink into the shadows hastily. It was then that the Grey Faerie Queen saw the little light faeries laying in a rumpled heap on the doorstep of their small house. Quickly she flew to them, and gently untangled their battered limbs. She knew right away that it was too late for Zora and Glinzie, but the third light faerie seemed only dazed, and appeared unhurt. She gathered the limp, bewildered light faerie in her arms, and directed her troup to take care of the other two light faeries. She knew they would conduct a burial befitting the kind souls.
She glared at the remaining Dark Faeries, and told them not to return to this part of the forest again, or they would suffer severely. As she spoke her final warning to them, she was surrounded by an eerie light once again, and as it shrunk around her, she disappeared, along with the light faerie she held gently.

The beautiful grey faerie had a sad look in her eyes, as she sat upon the Grarrl's hat. She finally spoke again.
"You see, I was the light faerie that the Grey Faerie Queen rescued. If she hadn't come when she did, I would surely have met the same fate as my poor sisters. They threw themselves on top of me to protect me, and shielded me from the evil magic. Alas, it was the end of them. By the time we reached the Grey Faerie Queen's castle, I had become so sad that all the light had flown from me, and I had become a Grey Faerie, looking much like the Queen herself. I've been this way ever since."
"And now, the Dark Faeries have come searching for me. I don't think they know I'm no longer a light faerie, so I am most likely safe. But, all the other light faeries in the kingdom are in grave danger, so that is why I have come to you for help." She looked around at the crowd gathered in the library, and waited for someone to speak.

The Neopians sat in stunned silence, looking at each other.
"I had no idea that the Dark Faeries had become so bold," said the Uni. "Would you pleae wait outside the library for a few moments while we discuss what to do?"
"Certainly," replied the Grey Faerie.
After the door had shut behind the faerie, the Uni turned to the others. "What on Neopia are we going to do?"

A a white female lupe looked at the Uni and shrugged. "I don't know. I mean, I have fought in battles before, but not magical ones. This is strange indeed and well....I don't know what we can do."she sighed, looking from one neopian to the other.
