First of all, I am not sure I am putting this on the right board. I was wondering if it is rude to sell something that has been given as a gift or a prize?? Can I please have some advice on this? Be Well, gaudianprincess aka Jazzmyn

Personally...I think that a gift is yours to do what you want with... I know a lot of times, I give gifts...and don't really know exactly whether the other person will like it or not, but I always think to myself, well...if not, they can at least sell it and maybe be able to get something different. So...personally...I think it's fine. I mean, I wouldn't flaunt it necessarily. lol. you know? Like...putting it in a trade and then posting about it...or announcing it's sale on here if it was a guild member that gave it to you....that kind of thing. Just because, you do want to TRY to avoid hurting anyone's feelings...but yeah...just my opinion on it.

well it could be rude if you sell or give it away soon but if you wait maybe they will forget about it and not think its rude

I don't think it's rude either..Same as becky, I know whenever I give away a present to someone I think if they don't like it, they can always sell it..hey, maybe buy something they would prefer with the new np! I wouldn't mind..but ya know, to each his own opinion. I think becky explained exactly my thoughts too..if you don't like something and want to sell it, I don't see a problem as long as you don't make a big thing out of it, like announce it to all that you didn't like your gift or something.

I mean I give gifts and I know some people will never use the items i give them or maybe even like the items I gave them. I just figure that they can use it for nps... I mean I have done it before.. No offence to anyone. I agree with Becky on this on.

I wouldn't be offended if someone sells -- or even gives away -- something I've given as a gift.
Once I've given it, it's theirs to do with as they wish. That's what a "gift" is all about. To me, anyway.

But do you think it's rude to give a gift to your Secret Santa?

you mean like...if someone gives you a prize and you turn around and give it to your secret santa person? I don't think that's a horrible thing if it's something you know they'd really really like.

I think that would be fine, if you want to give a little thank you gift, as long as it's just something small and thoughtful. As far as selling an item, I would keep it for a bit and enjoy just having it, and then if you need to sell it go ahead. It's yours to do with what you want.

i think i would have to agree with becky... a very good example is when you give bunny or kris something. bunny has a christmas gallery and kris has the faerie foods, there's really not much that they don't have unless it's unbuyable, so to me, giving them the gifts for them to sell just helps them get closer to buying something they really need, plus they won't forget who has helped them out

There is a sense of guilt that one has selling an item that they do not find particularly useful or enjoyable however, in my opinion, the item is yours and you should feel free to do with it as you please. It truly is the thought that counts and if you could sell the item for Neopets (which you could use) then I think it's acceptable. In the case with Random giveaways I think it's perfectly acceptable and that there shouldn't even really be a sense of guilt for it either.

Come to think of it, I haven't sold anything to speak of for a long time either! lol My poor little shop has nothing in it, and my SDB is overflowing!! I guess I should try to do some restocking and some selling cause after Christmas shopping my Neopet bank account is pretty sad! But I love giving people things, so I'll probably build it up and go spend it again anyway.
