I know I've been awol for a long time, but feels like *forever* since we've had a theme week around here! DL has been busy with real life (the nerve!), but perhaps we can have a mini-theme week in the guild without the spectacular graphics and artwork that we rely on DL to provide. Maybe if enough members prod the council, we can still do some theme-related activities. Story contest, best theme-related limerick, theme trivia -- stuff like that. I admit I'm itching to go shopping, and I sorta-kinda want to give away some *stuff*. It would be nice to have guild members beg me for prizes! (I'm only sorta kidding about that part.) A few months ago, a tea party theme was suggested, but I was also thinking that we could do a Poetry Reading at the SLCG Coffee Shop ... or a Spring Picnic ... or (since Earth Day was last weekend) a Green Guild Event! Or ... a Stargazing Party ... or Beach Picnic (okay, maybe it's too early for that) ... or a Scavenger Hunt! Sooooooo ... anybody interested? It's spring! Yeah, my house needs cleaning, but I want to do something new and fun! Post your ideas for activities and prizes here! Maybe the Guild Council will rally around and organize a mini event for us (because I just *need* to buy some prizes to give away).

i agree i mentioned to bunny that we were suppose to do the garden party theme week or semi theme week but then dl's computer messed up but i thought maybe he just decided against it. or hasn't gotten things ready for it yet..but i do think it would be a great time to do something fun even if its not a complete theme week...i am always game to participate in anything you can think of..i have no idea what to suggest...i do know i spent a small fortune on my neogarden thinking we were gonna have a garden contest of some type

We were supposed to have a theme week the week after my computer died. It was scheduled and ready to go and one week before that my computer died. (You remembered correctly it was going to be a Spring Tea Party... the thread is still somewhere in the forum with the launch date of it and everything) I lost all graphics for it though with the crash and since I sitll do not have a computer I have not been able to make any more. My computer should be up and running by this weekend or the middle of next week at the latest and the guild is my first giant task that I want to address and deal with. There's going to be A LOT of change once I get started! As you might remember I was in the middle of redoing the guild website as well and tragiclaly all that work that I did was also lost due to the crash.

Oh and all of that said... I'll try to have the theme week up for next next Monday. That would be May 7th which works out perfectly since April showers bring May flowers.

well we all know you love your theme weeks too and the computer messing up sure does put a choke hold on many task and am sure starting from scratch on getting them redone is not a fun thing once you already put so much effort in doing them the first time...but i can say i am excited love love love theme weeks.

I second what kris said, alien. You'll find it slightly more energetic around here with theme weeks running...And the activities are bunches of fun!

Great! I think the prospect of the theme weeks was actually what really got me and reeled me into the guild thus far. That, and the fact that all of you have been really kind and helpful. I think the theme weeks are an excellent idea, and shows effort on DL's part that I haven't seen in any other guilds. I'm just glad I'll be done with finals by the time it comes around. Phew.

Dl, would you have any of the past theme week graphics saved anywhere that you could "steal" from and possibly use to combine together a theme week? I know I wouldn't mind if you used some past graphics with new titles or some added artwork...that way it might come together a bit easier for you considering you have all that work to do on reorganizing your computer once it's running again. I would think the members would understand that. And if you use past graphics with some new additions, probably most of us wouldn't even realize they were the same ones. It's just a suggestion to help you put things together with a little less work.

I think that's a great idea, Bunny. We've had some fun theme weeks that I wouldn't mind revisiting. We could easily change the contests and the prizes, but leave the theme graphics the same if that would take the pressure off DL.

Great point bunny and capt... we do have the Easter/Springtime theme week that we did a while back but that has Easter Neggs all over it. How about exploring our past theme weeks... www.geocities.com/silvercloudsguild/themepast and let me know which theme we could revisit... Actually we missed our second annual Songkran this year thanks to this wonderful glitch but as I remember it that wasn't the most successful theme week. So please browse our history and see which one you guys might like to revist!

I think number 10, Summer Picnic would be a fun one to revisit.. maybe I could rearrange the graphics to say Spring?

hmmm ... I think there are a few possibilities.
"Rainbow" (#21) could work ... during our recent Nor'easter/hurricane I saw a *spectacular* rainbow to the west (an unusual sight around here!).
Or ... "Springtime Fun" (#15), which sounds appropriate, but I don't remember what that one was. Maybe I wasn't here yet.
But even "Summer Picnic" (#10), revised to say "Spring" would be good -- in New England, my favorite time to picnic is under the apple tree blossoms in May.
(I do want to put in a request for a Beach Party theme someday. I wanna see how well the Guild Guardians waterski! And who's the best Hula dancer? Fauna? Audra? )

So is everyone in favor of a revisit of the Summer-time Picnic modified to be a Springtime picnic?

Yeah. I think the summertime picnic theme would be good to redo. Of course, all the ideas seem like good ones to me. I mean, I've never been through a theme week before, so I don't really know how it's set to go!

Alien, if you go to the guild website and click on the past theme weeks, you can see a lot of the things we have done in the past. That will give you more of an idea of what a theme week is like. You can also look here on the boards at some of the theme week entries in the past.
I think a Springtime theme would be fine. I remember one of my ideas for the decorated teacup...could it be modified to be a decorated picnic basket, or something along a spring picnic art contest?
