 it is currently unconfirmed how you get the avie, as no one knows yet if you even can change species with the ray.... we don't even know if the ray is how you get it... one thing I do know for sure.... you HAVE to have the regular pet ray before you can access the petpet ray, because on my account with the regular lab ray i can see the image src for the map pieces to the petpet map, but on my main account i can't....... |

oo, that stinks for people who don't already have the main ray. I think you would be able to change species with the ray...I mean, petpets don't have the stats that normal pets do, right? Level, color, species...I can't see much past that. Unless I'm just stupid and don't know about petpets very much...which I don't since I'm not all about the petpets...but the petpet lab ray does sound good to me...ok, I'm rambling...I'll stop.

It's cute, kind of. Too bad you have to have the regular lab ray to get the petpet one because I don't have it.  I've kind of been thinking about getting it for a long time though, so this just makes my decision easier. Soon the time will come to finally pay for the whole lot lol. |

i have looked and can't find pieces in trades or shops yet...so i bet they will be outrageous at first when they start showing up...but i don't think i will pay as much and for surely not more than i did my lab ray.

After reading about the release of the petpet lab ray and all that stuff..in the Petpet Lab Ray thread..it doesn't seem as exciting as I imagined it to be. I was determined to buy one sooner or later lol but now that I read the posts in that thread...I'm not sure.

i'll still buy one even if it's only for the avatar, though I'm begining to not like the ray at all.... it seems like all of the pros to having it are being bashed. Unless it raises your petpet's level high enough to actually do some good in the battledome (though why would non-battledomers be interested then?) so if you do change species, it changes back if you unattach it, so you couldn't even switch pets with it.... whereas you not only lose level and age, but color and maybe even species as well
you're right about there only being a few stats to petpets.... level and age is it so the biggest thing to having the ray would be to change color and species, but this could just be rumors too, no one really knows for sure, so for the time being it's just a waiting game

I have actually been planning on buying the lab ray (pet) pecies. Does anyone know a good place to get them, I think I could possibly afford them.

whoo! i'm so glad i have the lab ray now. and cookie, they're around 470k for the full set, so u wouldn't be able to buy em unless you have that much

Don't buy 'em from the TP. People charge more for it there because you get the entire set at once. If you buy each piece from someone's shop (using the Wiz to find prices below 50K per piece) you end up spending less, even if it does take a little more time.
I personally think it's a fun thing to have. I usually just save my NPs and never really get anything very big, so after four years of being around I thought I kinda deserved it! I'd definitely say go for it if you have the money.
Not sure how I feel about the petpet ray yet. Guess we'll have to wait and see what it actually does first!

depends...some people might want em because they (at least at first) won't be as common...and they'll be a new thing. Besides...even if they're completely worthless...lol...Think of all the people out there who collect dung! lol. (Even thought that's only 1 np.) lol...Besides....what petpet collector's collection would be complete without a 'pile of soot' petpet. So...it's possible that they could still be worth a lot. Maybe even more than it was before...depending on how difficult it is to turn it into a pile of soot. Does it just take one shot?? or does it do other things, but randomly turn it into a pile of soot? Anyone know?

I'm thinking it's random when you might go there one day and it happens to zap it into a pile of soot. No wonder you would be disqualified from the Petpet Protection League..that isn't exactly in the best interest of your innocent petpet lol. Wouldn't it be terrible if you're wanting to zap your petpet to turn it into one that you like..but then it gets turned into a pile of soot?

i think they will be worth a lot, first of all you have to have the lab ray before you can even access the petpet ray, both of which cost a hefty sum.... then you have to have a petpet that you're zapping when it gets turned into a pile of soot... so i think it will still be pretty valuable besides, it's kinda cute!  |
