Continuing with the theme of expanding our horizons and learning about other ways people celebrate the holidays, today is the first day of Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan-African holiday that spans 7 days and celebrates family, community, and culture. Gifts are given each day, typically a book and a gift to commemorate the symbol for that day. The symbol for the first day is Mazao, which is Swahili for The Crops. And, so, to Tiffy426, Happy KWANZAA!

The second day of Kwanzaa celebrates Mkeka, Swahili for The Mat. This symbol represents tradition and history and is the foundation on which everything is built. Day 2's gifts go to BunnyRabt: and Happy Kwanzaa!

The symbol for the third day of Kwanzaa is Kinara, the candle holder. This is symbolic of ones roots, the parents. Happy Kwanzaa to Autumn_child!
