Doesn't look like we'll be making the winning trip, does it? Oh well, I'm glad he got the name we liked.

I don't remember which name I chose..but Tai Shan is an okay name and the meaning is beautiful so that worked out well. Too bad none of us scored the trip.

Look at how he's grown!!!! Keeper Cathy Morvick with the cub The cub had his tenth exam today. What a handful Tai Shan is now! Last week he had an opinion about his distemper injection, today it was the thermometer. We will now drop this from the exam, unless he shows any signs of illness. He weighs 15.5 pounds and is 28.47 inches long. He gained 1.4 pounds and grew 1.37 inches since his exam on October 21. His canines are more prominent than his incisors now. His premolars are still not evident but his molars are all in.

It's amazing to see how this teensy tiny panda cub has progressed into a grown panda with unbelievable growth/measurements. He now has a name..increased weight..teeth..

I know!!! His HEAD is four times as big as he was when he was born! And Mei just knew what to do. It's really remarkable.

whats the most amazing is the rate of speed at which it grows...and we think we age too quickly!

I know. I guess when he's a year old or maybe two, he has to go to China. I think it will be sad to separate them.

LQQK at him now!! Site update: At his 12th exam today, Tai Shan was a very good panda cub. Of course he is still good even when he is squirmy! It was easier to examine him this time. He received his rabies shot in silence. He seemed to be interested in us, looking at the table cloth, the people, the tape measure, and other items. He is sooo big! He weighs 19.2 pounds, two pounds more than he weighed at his last exam 11 days ago, and at 31.2 inches long, he is 2.6 inches longer than was on November 10. His outer incisors have erupted more than his inner ones, but are still just above the gum line. And, did someone sneak in and blow dry his hair?! I think whoever writes these updates must have a sense of humor! I just got to see Tai walking around and trying to eat bamboo. He's so cute!! TWO pounds in eleven days!! They have said that he will be even bigger than his father, and he is huge.

Tia Shan continues to grow. This pic was taken about 8 weeks ago: He's six months old now. Here he is with a new toy: This is the latest post on the website: We are still relocating Tai Shan during the viewing hours (8:30-9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-1 p.m.). There may be relocations during other times, but we try to minimize these. Fortunately, he is usually pretty sleepy and is easier to move. If he is really tired, he stays partially asleep when we move him, and he settles right back down into his nap in a new location. During the rest of the day and night, Tai has uninterrupted naps. Over the weekend, we experimented with putting the tub outdoors. The weather has been so mild that we wanted to let him nap outside near Mei Xiang. Tai Shan was recently given a new set of tubs in several sizes. We really appreciate this special gift from the manufacturer. Cub-in-a-tub time has a new twist. I would just be thrilled to see him in person!!!

On one of the movies I watched the trainer said that he was starting to grab them around their ankles and they had to put a stop to it. It's really cute now, but can you imagine if they let him keep doing it? He'd be knocking everyone down! There is a really cute clip of him playing with a ball, when he first started actually playing with toys. Talk about cute!!!
